1st Attempt and Growing Contams??

Here are some pics of some jars at 7 days. I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to have a greenish tint to them. I'm also not sure if it was due to the syringe or possibly something else. The jars were pressure cooked and the PF Tek was followed religiously. The syringe however, was obtained in a trade and possibly thats what the cause was. It looks to me as if all the jars are contaminated but 2 seem to look better than the other 4. I've included some pics in case someone has any ideas or useful advise to give a newbie.

That looks pretty green to me. Did you flame sterlize your needle? Was it packaged properly? Were proper sterlization procedures executed?

If it is green, that cake is dead, sorry. You don't want to breathe in those contams or risk infecting your other cakes by birthing it. Your best bet is "when in doubt, throw it out."

Nice camera btw. All I have a is a crappy webcam :frown:.

Followed proper sterilization procedures and flame sterilized the needle between jars.  The jars had been PC'd for 45 minutes.  Seperated the 4 questionable jars from the 2 that still look healthy. 





The possibly contaminated jars will go another day or two in isolation and will then come out for further evaluation.  I'll snap some more photos on evaluation day!  :wink:

Prolly time for some new jars to be PC'd anyway!  :laugh:

A word of advice: When you kill of those contaminated jars trying putting iso alcohol in them first to kill anything you might accidentally breath in!!
This is a good practice!
