What do you guys think of this super duper awesome lid design?

This is for rye/birdseed/pf cake. This way it can be inoculated in two places (where the silicone is) and have gas exchange (where the polyfill is) and can be screwed on tight without foil. Also, everything will be very sterile this way especially when inoculating through an alcohol soaked sponge!
Please share your thoughts.

For pf cakes, you really want 4 holes. Put the filter in the middle. With that, you don't need a dry verm layer, just leave an air space.
Edit- you still need foil when you sterilize.

For grain jar lids 1 inoculation port in the center and a 1/4 inch GE hole filters with tyvek is best
For PF jars I find these to work perfect

I personally would not mess around with polyfill tyvek is soooo much better

why is tyvek easier? Do you eventually have to replace the polyfill?

Its easy to get, easy to place on the lids, filters better, less hassle

That's why I prefer polyfil.

If you make an injection port in the middle, you can angle the syring to inncoculate to many more points. That will work, just make sure the polyfill is tight enough so it wont pull through.

Polyfill pros: I just pull some out of my pillow when I need some. It does not wick. What does 'filters better' mean if there is no contamination either way? Takes about 5 seconds to stick in lid... no glueing.
After all that I've read, polyfill seems to be by far superior. Also, there have been reports of contamination with some types of tyvek.

I use waterproof bandaids for my jars. I also silicone the INSIDE of the lids and push a little bit through to make a button shape. (I always have a hard time finding the injection hole har har)

Tyvek and silicone.
Tyvek should be scraped away after every second or third time through the PC and replaced. I change it every 2 times.
