Beginners grow, a few newbie questions!

So I've got some spores in the mail in a few days. it's gonna be my first grow so I'm really excited. But I've got a few questions, beforehand. I'll be surprised if anyone answers, sorry for such long questions.
1. The 1 pint jelly jars are dirty, can I clean with with windex, dish soap, bleach, etc.
2. How can I tell exactly when I am safe to take the cake out of the jars? And when I take the cake out, is it still prone to infection, or can I leave it on my cleaned counter with maybe a tupperware container over it for precautions?
3. I grow the mushrooms, then harvest. If I put the cake back into the "fruiting chamber" will new mushrooms appear over time? Or will I have to either re-inoculate the cake, or just re make the cakes. Explain on that one to, if there's a guide that'd be great!
4. I have B+ strain, how can I tell exactly the optimal time to harvest?

1) Wash them out with soap and water then use
2) After it appears to be 100% colonized wait an extra week after that
3)After you pick your flush you dunk the cake for 24 hour then put back into the Fruiting Chamber
4) Like any strain when the veil breaks and the caps start to slightly flatten out
Read this ASAP http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11585613/fpart/1
Also don't use Pint jars for the PF tek

1. Dish soap. But don't use pints for cakes. 2. 100% + a week 3. You may get multiple flushes. Dunk in between 4. Pick just before the veils beak
-------------------- You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?

1. I just toss mine through the dishwasher, or use a 1 to 10 part bleach water solution and soak the jars. 2.AFter full colonization of the jar you should wait a week for the mycelium to consolidate(get a really strong hold on the substrate) Fully colonized cakes are not prone to infection. 3.After harvesting your mushrooms you dunk the cake for 12-24 hours in distilled/clean water then pat dry and place back into your chamber for another flush. 4.They say the optimal time to harvest is after the veil breaks.
Heres a guide to send you in the right direction good luck http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11585613#11585613

I always have patted dry. Whats the reasoning behind this just curious. Does not seem to affect anything but I could be wrong. The reason I said distilled is because the chemical make up of everyones water supply will be different. I just assumed distilled/reverse osmosis waster would be a good constant variable to have.

Some people have problems with tap water but that's mainly for spore syringes(I have not)
For dunking water it does not matter
As for pat drying the cakes you want that moisture on them, come back after a hour or so and fan them if should be fine

Fair enough, As far as not patting dry, does this damage the mycelium? or is it just that the excess water on the cake will evaporate off and not make a difference? The reason I pat is iv had a few oyster cakes go slimy on me after not patting of excess water.

It should not remain on the cake that long if you have ample FAE

Fair enough come to think about it the slimy cakes came around in my early experiments and FAE was an issue. Thanks for the insight shea

As long as they last. Sometimes quite a while.
