Light cycle question.

Currently I am using a 12/12 light cycle... 12 hours on during the day and 12 off at night. I have my FC in my closet and the light in the back of my closet looks pretty suspicious.
All of my cakes are fruiting and I want to switch the cycle for the lights to be off during day and on during the night. Would this be OK to do at this point in the cycle or should I wait until I start the second flush? Having the lights off during the day would make me feel a lot more comfortable leaving the house and the only time they would be on is when I'm in my room sleeping. This would make the FC a lot less noticeable.
Also, if I do this, should I start by giving them 12 hours of extra light or 12 hours of extra darkness... or should I try to find a happy medium?
Thanks, KC

It could be an apartment situation...maintenance people won't come in usually but if it's an emergency or they've given you 24 hours notice and you weren't there, they don't have to call you (ie your toilet explodes and water is gushing down on the person below you, or there's a bug sprayer coming by tomorrow). Having lights off during the day would at least draw less attention for the routine stuff that you don't know about. I distrust ANYONE who has a key anyway. Don't assume they always follow the rules. The stakes are too high.

I really wish I wasn't. I started this project at college and didn't give myself enough time to get it done while there. I feel like I'm too far ahead to go and toss the cakes. I will most likely abandon them after the first flush as the paranoia is getting the best of me... which should be in 2-3 days.
With that being said is it OK to go and switch the cycle or not?
Regardless of where I'm growing them, none of us should be growing them at all in the first place, right?

Whoa yeah...a dorm is a really really bad place to do what you're doing. If you haven't said shit to ANYONE, maybe keep them if you have private personal space others shouldn't be in. Even then, bad idea.

Thanks for the input Shea and not beating around the bush and telling me the things I shouldn't be doing
And by the way. I didn't tell a soul, except for readers on here, and I do not live in a dorm. I live in my own apartment and my landlord has been to my apartment once in the 3 years I have lived there. Also he called ahead of time to let me know he would be touring the place. He doesn't come snooping around and he respects the tenants privacy. He has walked in on numerous other tenants smoking weed and partying. He doesn't give shit what people are doing as long as they're not causing any disturbance.
At home however, is a different story. Which is why I am trying to finish this up and make as concealed as possible. Other than the bright light in the back of my closet, which is about 6 feet from the closet door, there is nothing noticeable that would get me into trouble unless someone did some serious snooping.
I had to try growing once. I always wanted to give it a try but I cant handle the paranoia that comes with it. I wont be again until I am living on my own and not renting from someone.
Its hard to believe that something like this is illegal in the first place... but what can we do living in a society as fucked as this one.

lights increase yield but you dont even really need the lights. as long as they are getting some light they will fruit and be just groovy. my girlfriend used to grow in her closet all the time and never supplemented light. she just left the closet door cracked.

Using light makes a huge difference I would not neglect using a good 6500K florescent bulb

if yer terrified of being busted then not having a bright light is a good way to go. they still fruit. hes doing cakes so its not like hes going to have a massive amount anyways.

If you call 14 dried grams a massive amount....

Not too bad for a first flush.

Damn nice one George. I have a cake going now that looks like that one... its absolutely covered in pins but I doubt they will end up being as large as some of those ones. Ill update my first grow thread with a pic once they grow a little.
Im going to go with the lights on during the night... 6 feet back in my closet with the closet light on you can't tell what is in the tub. It just looks like a regular old storage bin. Its well hidden but I think it will be OK for another 3-4 days until the first flush is done.
After the first flush I'm going to take a hike up in the mountain and find a suitable place for them. I can't just toss 'em without seeing another flush... I feel like I put too much time into them.
