Fox Farm Big 'n' Chunky Perlite Owns.

I wasn't sure at first if the $35 I spent--$50, including shipping--for a giant bag of Fox Farm perlite would be worth it. Now, having scrapped the dusty, dirty Miracle Gro stuff and replaced it with Fox Farm, I feel sure I made the right choice. No dust or fertilizers to wash out, easy upward airflow through the bottom holes due to more open spaces between perlite chunks, better water evaporation, and much, much less mess. Anyone who hates perlite because it's messy (and the MG stuff certainly is) should give Fox Farm a shot.
For those who care about aesthetics, the big, chunky pieces give the chamber a sharper look, too.

yes, I really love this hobby but I hate perlite. I am curious: can't you take a pic? Thanks.

How big is that bag? sounds a tad expensive.
The home & garden store near me has enormous bags of perlite, almost as tall as me, for like $17.
Next time I go there I will check the brand etc. Its just a big brown bag that says "horticultural vermiculite" and "horticultural perlite" and they just circle which ever one is in the bag haha they just have a generic bag.

I'm still mulling that one over.
The bag is four cubic feet.
The "horticultural vermiculite" sold here--probably the same stuff you're talking about, Numinosum--comes in medium-sized pieces. I really had my heart set on the big ones, so I went with Fox Farm.

Agreed, it's good stuff but damn, they should change the name. They may as well have a picture of rush and sarah on the bag. RR

Good one RR!
I'll agree that FF perlite is the shiznit, the only perlite that gets added to my organic soil mixes for my indoor MJ grows.

Fox farm products are a rip off. Had to buy one of those 30 dollar bags because I was in a rush last week. ...........Depressing
Usually get one that size for 6 bucks.

Alright let's try this again...sorry for any confusion with the reply you deleted RR.
The difference between the $6 bag of perlite and the much more expensive FF Big & Chunky perlite is surface area....more surface area on the perlite = better humidification.

From what I read, Fox Farm is just an overall better quality Perlite.
Not necesary, but good to have for anyone who is serious with this
hobby. How many times can you reuse the Perlite if you don't mind me
asking?

Indefinitely (sorta), give a good rinse once in a while, or if you are really paranoid bake it in the oven to sterilize it

Well when I was doing PF Tek I usually got 3-5 flushes per cake,10 to 12 cakes PER pmp (I was running one PMP).I re used the same perlite a few times for a few different grows.
Just wash/clean it under some hot water or boil it or wash it and slap it in the oven.

What about like miricle grow perlite?(What I use now lol). I noticed
that after about 1 or two months the humidity struggles to stay high
even after I rinse and resoak.
