if its on the inside of an otherwise healthy looking mushroom its fine. like i said before some times they get a weird color.
black is bad, weird smell other then mushroom funk = bad too.
if your getting weird oozing stuff after they dry (i didnt quite understand) then thats because they weren't fully dry and rotted on the inside.

Next time try fan drying for 12-24 hours and then place in a desiccant chamber for another 12-24 hours.
I'll be starting my first ever bulk grow in the next 2-3 weeks and I am thinking of a few different ideas.I was thinking of a food dehydrator (one that has a temperature regulation as I have read anything more then 95° fahrenheit is not good),also I have been thinking of making a drying box similar to this one minus a carbon filter.I built a homemade one years ago for drying my home grown, long before I ever saw one advertised in MJ magazines and forums.
What I would do is use the dry box for fan drying and then take a sterelite tub and rig it to hold all the screens of fan dried mushrooms above a thick layer of desiccant to get them cracker dry all without the use of heat.

This has been proven to not be true. You're advised against storing them long term at high temperatures but as far as drying goes it's fine. I dehydrate mine @ 165f for 4-5 hours.
Other people actually boil, grill, or sauté theirs before eating.

Oh I have made pizza with shrooms I have grown...but for drying a nice slow dry (not too slow or they will rot) is best IMO...not saying it affects potency, but I am also kind of a perfectionist too.Besides, using fan dry and desiccant chamber will take just about as long as it would if you were to use a food dehydrator....and I can fit a lot more shrooms in a fan dry box and desiccant chamber then I ever could in one food dehydrator.

i would say that depends on the RH of your drying atmosphere. if you have a 30% rh then you wont get down to but maybe 15% moisture content in your boomers.
dehydrators are the best option because hot air can hold more moisture therefore you can get your fruits down to nearly 0% watercontent. plus the sixty you will spend on a decent dehydrator will be far cheaper than the amount of desiccant it would take to do a big enough tub for a large harvest.
and i dry mine at 115f so heat shouldnt be a problem dont go overboard though obviously

I slice/chop/split mine into thinner pieces for drying then dehydrate 4-5 hours @165f and they're cracker dry. Into a bag and in the freezer. One of these days I'll buy a vacuum sealer kit but haven't gotten around to it.

They come out like potato chips minus the oil :-D
