Whitish mold on dried mushrooms
    #12588311 - 05/18/10 08:05 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Okay, so i just acquired some shrooms and i put them in a baggie, in a dark area. i didn't store them in the fridge/ freezer. these are dry shrooms and the next day i notice some white moldish spot, maybe it was there( i forgot to be honest). today, upon further examination, i noticed it has like white fibers, mostly on the inside. I'll take pics with my webcam, but i doubt that will help you guys.

So what i'd like to know is if i can possibly eat this without dying/being poisoned. okay, thanks.

A lot of times white fuzzy mycelium builds on the base of the stems. It is very common. A better picture would be nice.

thanks for responding so fast. i decided i'm going to make some tea with these. I'm convinced it is mycelium, so would the heat make it safe. so that i get the good stuff, but not the moldy garbage.
