Its hard to tell from the description and googling the model number doesn't bring up much more info.
Can anyone vouch that this is a laminar quality hepa filter?

thanks!

99.97% efficient as opposed to 99.99%
Dunno if it's completely unsuitable (can't imagine it'd be too bad) but I'd personally go for the most efficient you possibly can.

No.
However, the one linked to above is. It's 11 inches thick. RR

Thanks RR.
To Jingus - this is why a HEPA is not just a HEPA - there are tons of filters that say "HEPA" and of the variety that filter microbes (as opposed to particles) there are at least 3-4 kinds, and different levels.
Which leads me to my next question....working out the blower speed.
I am having a really hard time with these calculations but here goes, using the following worksheet http://www.fungifun.org/English/Flowhood:
20" x 26.5" = 530"(2squared) - Surface AREA of filter 1200"/m (air speed in inches) x 530"(2squared) = 636,000" (3cubed)
so 636,000"(3cubed) per minute is what my blower should deliver? to work it out in feet, 12 x 12 x 12 = 1728 cubic inches per cubic foot
so 636,000 \ 1728 = 368 CFM
The part where I get confused is working out static pressure (does that come from the blower or the filter?) and then factoring in the pre-filter etc. Also howcome it doesn't factor in the depth of the filter?
The filter quality control sticker says tested flow - 1000 CFM and then rated cap - 1000. I don't know what all the other numbers mean.
Someone help! I'm trying my best to do this by myself and getting confused...

So I have my 20 x 26.5 x 11.5 inch HEPA filter...
will this 449 CFM blower be right for it? http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/vortex-inch-449-cfm-high-power-inline-fan-p-353.html
there is a 600 odd CFM model above that one too.
I am completely confused about the plenum part - how close it's supposed to go to the hepa, and what kind of filter can be used. I've scoured all the teks and forum for this info, and must just be missing it....
Thanks everyone!

You're going to want a blower that delivers around 500 to 600 cfm at 1" static pressure. RR
