    #12581464 - 05/17/10 07:50 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

i inoculated about a week ago and am now seeing some growth in my jars. if you look really close in all the jars, the growth is very strand like. very webbish. is this normal?

also, there is some slight condensation on a couple part of the jar. is this okay/

Sounds good, yes.  As long as the condensation is indeed light.

Look around here at pictures of colonizing jars to get an idea of what it should look like.  If in doubt, you can always add pictures for us to let you know.

The web you see is just the mycelium growing outwards.

This droplets of water you see and just condensation and are completely normal.

cobweb is VERY rare in jars, and it would be gray, not white.

should i ever shake the jars? a lot of the growth is the top and i was just wondering if this would help the myc get further down into the jar.

PF jars or grain jars?

Grain you shake at 15 - 20% colonization.
PF jars you dont shake at all.
