or is this WBS jar just REALLY ready to spawn? it's had way more than a week to consolidate... several of my jars look like this.

wait a little and see if it turns green :shrug:

but that yellow does look like metabolites to me so I think they are fine

Shake well. If they recolonize in a day or so, spawn them.
If they're bad they'll declare themselves.

Looks like healthy WBS jars to me!! sometimes you get some color from the grains...you will know for sure when you open them up!! but I don't see anything wrong with them!!...E

Yeah mold has a distinguishable smell. You don't want to breathe in a large amount though because it is toxic.

Your jars look good, in fact you should spawn them soon because it looks like a "pin" is forming in one of them.

You'll know for sure after you spawn but that looks like metabolites to me.  I've seen this in my jars from time to time and I haven't had problems with it--smell it first tho (for dirt, apparently).  I recently posted a pic of something similar in one of my tubs (I had never seen it outside a jar before) and so far so good.
