i did four 1/8" holes on my first set but buy the time i innocced they were only breathing threw four needle pinholes threw masking tape. but this time i put a little smaller than the width of the masking tape it barely covers the hole totally cause its kinda big..

and this time i took the tape off after i innocd so it GE faster threw the bigger hole. but i do have ones with four inoculation hole.

The reason we use 4 holes is to evenly distribute the spore solution/LC. Also this way we innoc towards the glass so we can see if its healthy or contamed right away. After you innoc dont cover the holes with anything

so we can see if its healthy or contamed right away  is that to tell if the spores or lc are contamed right away? how can u tell if its bad right away? i thought he shot it towards the glass to see how much he was adding RR VIDEO....

No we do that to see what ever grows right away. If its contaminated you will see in a few days time. If you shoot in the middle you wont know until whatever grows though the cakes

but ill just use the four hole lids...
how does the brf jars look ok?  do the other jars look ok to u?

the PF jars i innoced made the rye grow cobweb moldy ect? i think.

the PF jars are innoced with the same LC. ive never done BRF jars with LC, only spores so i dont know if they would look different.

gonna just have to wait it out?

also did the WBS jars, the two bottom pics look ok? cause that was from the same LC jar also.

thanks for ur help. the ROOKIE.

you don't make very much sense. why is it so difficult for you to formulate a complete sentence? your questions have no relation to the pf tek from what i can tell. it seems you're struggling with an lc on different types of grain.
and like i said before, you have NO signs of cobweb in any of those jars.

This is going off subject now.

But in an LC you look for contams within it. So if you knock a few jars up and everything is healthy then you have a good LC. If things go the other way then the LC is bad.

Looking at your pics they looked fine to me although blury anyway. Also not sure why your Myc is growing upwards, there should be a verm barrier at the top so there should not be any growth their at all!

ok shea i got a question?

the yellow cap contain is burma spores in somethings i bought from spore works with the spores.

the yellow capped one i spray sterilized water in and took out the spores and made the lc and the two outside inoculated jars.

so the yellow cap is colonized. the LC is colonized. and the two outside jars im questioning.

do they look normal growth of myc? does it look ok and normal to u shea?

reason why im asking is this all my other projects have all come out this way and all have been contamed but they smell minty.. i know i said that before. so i made test brf jars and sure enough i can smell the minty smell coming out of the top of the jars threw the layer of verm.

now i have one more of the same type of spores from the same place and im gonna do it again and just want to make sure it looks ok before i go and do the same thing again. thanks for ur help shea.

So what your asking me is. The 2 jars colonizing, which were inoculated with an LC made from the jar with the yellow lid are they good??.

They look alright. Are they 1/2 pint jars tho they look like pint jars

I've got a question about gypsum.  I know it's not required but I'd like to use it.  However, I am having a hard time finding it locally (have checked hardware and plant stores -- I can get it on the net but for a variety of reasons don't want to).

Is there any substitute for it?  If not, can you use something other than the "for the soil" gypsum they sell?  I've read that some plaster is made of gypsum, etc.

Thanks

Just birthed some jars following this tek - everything is super healthy.

Could you add something about what to do immediately after birthing them and putting them in the FC? Like mist them and expose them to light immediately or what?
