Question about pressure cookers.
    #12569218 - 05/15/10 07:54 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

Do they HAVE to have seals on top? I have pots with lids, but no "pressure cooker" per say... I'm not sure if that would work well or not.

yes they do. its not a pressure cooker otherwise - it needs to get to around 15psi

you really need to get one somehow or just use the pf tek.

Ya, pots with lids and pressure cookers
are completely different animals.

You can do PF tek fine in pot with a lid.
Just follow the videos to the T.

But to do anything past PF tek,
you need a pressure cooker.
A big one.

Boil your substrate before sterilization; as long as it's a grain.  It'll help remove some of the endospores and also aid in your steaming process.
