Chillin in the hospital

I'm glad I finally got my computer here. I've been admitted since tuesday and just been sitting around board out of my mind.
Least the doctor put me on some perks, but they only hook me up with one 5 every 4 hours.
Has anyone else had a stay in the hospital for longer than a day? What did you do to entertain yourself?

How did you get there... Did you have to fire two guns whilst jumping through the air?

No, I just started having intense psychosis one day. I thought the scrolling TV guide was all messages threatening to harm me and when I switched to the Christian channel to find something I thought would calm me down it was just a preacher screaming at me about going to hell. So I phoned my mom and told her something is wrong I think I need to go to a hospital and off we went.
They gave me ativan and olanzapine at the hospital, before I went in I ashed on my shoe and thought "ashes to ashes dust to dust" and that was an omen, then I saw some rabbits and that was an omen of paganism. In the intake room I saw a picture of some red blobs in some white space and thought "Those are the devil amanitas.". After the olanzapine I saw a giant centipede running under the couch it was like 6 feet long. Not sure if that was the olanzapine or if they just gave it to me at the exact right time...
It was a very scary experience and I would like to write the whole thing out about my intake and my stay sometime, if only for my own reference. I'll post it here when I get around to it.

Don't they call that a nervous break down? I went through something similar as a teenager but it was not nearly as intense as yours sounded. Glad you pulled out of it alright.
*edit* I'm still thinking about escaping so I can get drunk and stoned and smoke a fucking cigarette. Then I'll come back.

I was in for about 10 days and entertained myself mainly through Nintendo DS and practicing pool by myself on their shit table. They had a computer in there but it was fucking old and the mouse was bashed in, the right mouse button was gone and the left barely worked. Strangely I found a folder of Aleister Crowley documents on the desktop. I was kind of curious to read it but I'm not a proponent of that stuff and thought it would be a really bad thing to read in that situation.

Sept. 2008
I've been in again since for a bit, I thought I didn't need my meds anymore, but only for one night. They wanted to lock me in a room with plexiglass for all the walls, no bed, and a camera inside. Like that would have helped me in my fearful situation.

Im in here cause 3 months ago I got pnemonia and never got better. My right lung was full of fluid and the Health Dept. thought it was TB. So they admitted me and put me in isolation. Good thing is the state is paying for my treatment.
I got perks cause they put a tube in my right side to drain fluid out of my lung and I bitched about the pain till I got something good.
I think I'm gonna get surgury on monday to cut out the infected part of my lung cause its not getting better.... So I should get some better pain killers after that.

There's really not much you can do in the hospital, especially if you gotta stay in your room the whole time. Your only options are to read a book or watch tv. Other than that if you have a hobby that you can do inside, for example drawing, painting, writing, necklace making, knitting etc. If you keep busy the time will pass much quicker. I was in the hospital once for a seizure, and within two days I was already goin nuts! I had nothing to do except watch tv and sleep. So keeping busy is the key to having a stress-free hospital experience

I quit a while back, cold turkey. and stayed quit for a year and a half. It was awsome not having to worry bout them, or buy them anymore.
I started up again when I started working in a call center and getting bitched out all day every day. Horrible mistake.

I've had two week long stays - one for auto accident: broken ribs/collapsed lung; the other was a post-op infection from appendix removal. Both stays sucked - it was pretty much sleep, watch shitty, limited TV, read books (hard) or preferably magazines etc. due to short attention span. By the end I couldn't sleep so I was watching fucking infomecials at like 3 am because there was nothing good on the shitty TV.
Hope you get out soon the hospital sucks very badly. Especially the food, at least at the last one I stayed at. They were threatening to put a feed tube down my throat because I couldn't eat the food. Luckily I got them to send up grits galore, which was the only thing that didn't taste fucked up to me.

I agree with the food being nasty. I've been getting my mom's to bring me subway and leftovers from dinner. But I still gotta eat 2 meals of hospital food. Sure wish medical bud was legal here. Maybe I could have gotten that for pain instead. I bet the food would rock then.

I got news about my lung. They said its some sort of draining from my lymphatic system. They are gonna put me in surgury today and try to sew up the leak. They said it's natural fluid but it's supposed to leak into an artery in my neck, not my chest cavity.
So surgery in 1 hour. I'm actually a little nervous about it. But it has to be done.

Surgery went good. they put 3 drain tubes coming out of my chest. They cut my side below my armpit and split 2 ribs apart to get to the lung. He said the lung was stuck to the side of my rib cage... Anyway, he cleaned out all the infected stuff and then took a biopsy of the infected parts to check for cancer. Tests came back clear with no cancer. No TB so I'm out of isolation and in a regular room now. It was pneumonia that just set up shop in my lung, that's what the surgeon told me. They put me on a IV pump with dilantin for pain. It has a button I push and it gives me 0.2 ml dose, I can hit the button every 10 minutes. Works pretty good for the pain, but it still hurts like a bitch from time to time.
They put me in ICU for a night and then I had an anxiety attack so they moved me as soon as my TB came up negative. I kinda flipped out because I was in pain, them pain killer makes me itch ALL over, I had leg massagers on my leg that were hot and uncomfortable, I couldn't move on my own. And to top it off. Three machines started beeping all at once. And the fucking nurse took 1 hour to come after I called her 3 times. I was yelling at the machines to STFU because I couldn't get to them, i was so upset I was almost in tears. Anyway, they hooked me up with some Xanax and let my mom in the room a little early for visiting hours. I cursed the nurse and some more shit, so I think she wanted to get rid of me. I'm good now though, didn't sleep last night because I couldn't get comfortable cuz of the pain. And they will NOT up my pain killer dosage.
Good times. I'm gonna get off here, typing is making my shoulder hurt. Thanks for caring, i really appreciate it. It means a lot.

hang in there mate! I know how hospital sucks! I was in there for 7 days in a room shared by 6 patients, one of which was an 80 year old who couldn't move and shat himself every few hours, right next to me, another guy was recovering from a car crash and was in pretty bad state as well...
yeah meditation was the only thing that got me through, and shroomery/chatting with friends of course!

im glad it went ok, and yes you can never sleep in a hospital. When i was there, they had nurses coming in every hour to give me the meds, and they didnt care if it was 3 am and i was just starting to sleep
It was chill because i had a super funny racist old white dude next to me, i just laughed my self to sleep.
And i think i ate enough hospital food to feed africa
Get better soon!

Its been a few days since my surgery. They removed one of the tubes from my chest because I wasn't draining much fluid anymore. Its a little more comfortable with just 2 tubes but it still hurts like a bitch. I'm gonna have some gnarly scars to show off. I'll tell the chicks it was a knife wound from when I was trying to save a baby seal from hunters and they stabbed me. They took me off the dilatin because it was making me itch and break out rashes all over me. I guess i'm allergenic to Codine after all. They got me on darvisets, which arn't really strong but at least that itching stopped.
