Should I birth this cake? [Updated Picture]
    #12567258 - 05/15/10 12:52 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

Hello,

I have three cakes that developed a bacteria issue, however all of the jars were able to colonize and are now pinning. However the light yellow spots are still visible. I was waiting for the yellow spots to go away before birthing but at this point the pin is getting quite large, so I feel like I should birth these jars, but I do not want them spreading this yellow shit to my other cakes already in the tank.

This is the jar with the largest contaminated spot, however it is also the jar with the most pinning, in fact the one you see is quite large at this point, no others are even close to that size. The spot of contaminate is kind of hard to see on my laptop monitor if i don't tilt the screen, it is in the dead center of the jar, with the tip of the pin stretching over the edge of it pointing to it.

I don't see a 'contaminated spot'. The yellow spots are probably metabolites or more in vitro pins forming. Birth those cakes.

I birthed the cakes, and they are soaking at the moment. Two of them had pins forming and everying looked OK minus the yellow spots which I was unable to get a picture a better of, the yellow is just too faint.

However on the third cake there is spots of a clearish white slimly stuff all over the cake, and one spot toward the top that was brownish/yellow.

Top center is the brownish yellow spot a slimy spot is about an inch lower.

that looks like a pin that was growing on the edge of the jar. I can't see anything wrong in the first picture, either.
