Why do you think all the free thinkers went to mycotopia? This is exactly the group think shit I'm talking about. There is more than one way to do shit, if you going to repeat just what RR says why bother even posting? It's obviously in the archives if you found it. No disrespect intended to RR, he's a great cultivator, however there are instances in which are circumstantial. I'm not saying this is necessarily one of them, however, I think that RR got most of his information from the man named Paul Stamets, who is at the forefront of mushroom cultivation (Yes even ahead of RR). Just because he made it plain and simple for everyone doesn't mean that his way is the only way. SO STFU WITH RR SAYS ALREADY. If you cant think for yourself or speak from your own experience then just stfu.

And who the hell are you? What kind of massive scientific undertaking are you involved in? If your not going to listen to the master then why do it at all? Yes I parrot RR but I also don;t talk about things I have no experience in. I let my jars consolidate in the light and I get faster pinning. Plain and simple. So go fuck yourself. Try contributing to a forum.

Leaving the jars without inoculating won't really tell you anything.
In my last round of brf jars I mistakenly put a solid disk under my disk with holes.(one jar)
Pc'd for 90 minutes @ 15psi along with my grain jars.
Just as all of the jars where finishing up that sealed jar started growing mold.
Every other jar colonized perfectly and without contamination.

Ya on a long enough time line all jars will contaminate. It's a race between myc and other shit.

Gotcha. This is something not really explained in the docs I've read. I guess the stuff I've read gives you a lot of the how but not much of the why. My other hobby is homebrewing, and I have some really good books on the subject, so I guess I'm spoiled by them. Maybe I should invest in some mushroom books....

Hmmm...
Quote:
Sterilizing the Jars
Place the finished jars in your pressure cooker or pressure canner, and cook them at 15psi for 45-60 minutes, according to the instructions for your pressure cooker/canner. Let the entire apparatus cool completely. Do not try to open the pressure cooker before it is cool to the touch, and do not try to speed the cooling process, as a quick change in temperature could crack the jars. Be sure to let the jars cool for several hours, because heat is often trapped in the center of the cake, even if the jar feels cool. This heat can kill your spores if you try to inoculate too soon after cooking. It’s best if you can let your jars cool overnight. The jars are now sealed containers of sterile substrate. If you have done everything correctly, they can be stored indefinitely until you are ready to use them.
(emphasis mine) from http://www.shroomery.org/8410/Simple-Cubensis-Growing-Technique
So maybe my idea isn't so bad? I mean, don't some suppliers sell ready-to-inoculate jars that they pre-sterilized and have been stored for at least long enough to ship them? fwiw, I have my spores now and jars are ready so I am going to inoculate them.
