FAO Stealth Growers
    #12561478 - 05/14/10 11:51 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

and others who would like to give advice.

2 years back I decided to go about researching and planning a mushroom grow. I bought a B+ spore syringe(which is still bubble rapped in an air tight plastic cover). I also bought an aquarium heater and have a pressure cooker. I scrapped the idea after realizing that none of the places I thought would be secretive (i.e not coming to the attention of family members) as I live at home. And no, I'm not under 18.

Thing is, a few months back I got a new bunk bed :smirk: and my bro moved out of my room. This new bed has enough space under it(height and width) to be used for a grow. This has made me reconsider giving the grow another shot.

So I'm basically looking for advice and maybe some story's from people who have experience in something similar to my situation.

If you were worried before, why wouldn't you be now?  What's in the pressure cooker, son?  Why can't I get into your room to change your sheets?

I think the fact that I'm older, now have my own room and my parents don't snoop around my room. The changing the sheets problem could be easily solved. I could just start changing them myself. I already hoover and clean my room myself(I'm great, I know :P) so all of a sudden changing my sheets wouldn't be suspicious at all.

Both my parents work so I could use the pressure cooker at a time when they are at work at the same time. not much of a problem there.

What I was getting at is this:  Your grow will eventually be found out, unless you live in a mansion with your own wing.

If your family wouldn't approve, don't do it.  A friend of mine was growing weed in his bedroom walk-in closet, his mother found out, despite the fact he kept his bedroom door locked.  She called the cops, and he spent 6 months in the joint.

Either wait til you get your own place, or have a trustworthy friend (oxymoron) with his/her own place.

Here's some advice for you: If your parents don't approve, don't grow psilocybin producing mushrooms in their house.
Shouldn't risk the safety of your parents because you thought you could keep it under wraps.

Any time mine visit me I tell them they're just edibles; it's not their house.

My family wouldn't approve but they also wouldn't rat me out the the police. I think it would just be a case of "get this shit out of the house"

Unfortunately I don't have a close friend who is living out of home where I could grow. I'm trying to think of somewhere that i could maybe use to set up a grow (an old shack with electricity etc) but drawing blank on that too.

Thanks for the reply, I'm still only in the thinking/planning stage obviously so still looking for new idea's, it's certainly not a definite yet.

I don't see how it would be risking their safety but I understand the 'Our House, Our Rules' aspect. I have pondered the thought of telling them I'm going to start an edible mushroom grow but not 100% sure they would believe that.

Grow sclerotia from Atl#7.... It's Super easy to hide... and it's not the mushrooms you are after, so no one would expect it to be mushrooms in the least.... and if you wanted to Fruit For some mushrooms you can... it's super easy.

Because you're cultivating an illegal mushroom in their house.  Cops can be real pricks, I don't care where you live.  They can levy charges against your parents, as well as you.  Doesn't mean they'll get convicted, but I'm sure they could do without the headache.

I don't plan on letting anyone know of the grow so the police shouldn't be a problem really. Unless my parent's call them which I honestly can't see them doing.

Can? 9/10 times they are pricks. Never had good experiences with them.

You asked for advice and you got the best for your situation. I think you have already made up your mind. I will second the sclerotia grow. It doesn't get any stealthier than that. Except you will need a pressure cooker and 2 hours with the house to yourself to do it right. If you try to be stealthy with cakes or bulk, you will end up taking shortcuts that will lead to failure or worse. The real stealth comes from being able to resist telling your friends that you are growing. Like it or not, I'll bet most trouble comes from disregarding the #1 rule: Tell Nobody! All it takes is someone knows someone, etc. Then the cops are at your door asking questions. How awkward is that for your parents?

I'm currently looking into the suggested sclorotia grow. I haven't made up my mind as I'm now contemplating on asking them(parents) for permission to grow or scrap the idea completely.

If I like and feel confident about the sclorotia grow then I might keep my mouth shut and grow that way.

Step 1.) Get a container, and punch a bunch of holes in the container for fae.
Step 2.) Get a lock.
Step 3.) Put the container in a closet or non sketchy spot, like under you bunk bed, put all of your equipment in the container, and lock it.
Step 4.) Grow.

Although, if your parents are ok with you growing, that might not be necessary.  If you think they will be ok, try asking, who knows.

I'm using a tub in tub setup right now, just made it, kind of ghetto rigged at the moment.  Basically it's a very large opaque tupperware bin with perlite at the bottom and an air pump running to it set to a timer for fresh air.  Inside the large bin, on top of the perlite, is a smaller transparent bin with perlite at the bottom and 1/4 inch holes every two inches.  Also inside the large bin, sitting next to the smaller bin, is a travel size walgreens cool mist humidifier with the power cord running from the large bin out to the same timer as the air pump.  Also inside the large bin I have a rope light with 6500k color temperature LEDs spaced every two inches, running along the two long sides of the bin.

Well, that's not 100% what I'm using, but that's the plan.  I have all the pieces and they are working properly, it just need polish.  I quickly threw it all together because of an emergency involving our cakes and other FC, but I plan to finish all of it and make it look nice and pretty before I take some pictures.  It's pretty quiet, especially since I always have music on, can't even hear it.

Everything I say is a lie or complete fabrication.  Posting on forums as a "character" is a hobby of mine.  Sometimes I pretend I used to grow mushrooms, but really it's just a story based on things I've read on shroomery.org

Would this be considered a poor way of growing? like a grow that produce little to nothing? Cause if it's not that's what I'll end up doing more or less.

Thanks.

Most people would say that you need more fae, but I know that it will work find.  Also, if you've never heard of the chronic tek, or the invitro tek, it's a good way to fruit cakes with limited space, you should check those out as well.

You want some real true down to earth advice?

Even though you are 18 or older (or so you say...hmmm) it would be wrong to not get permission from your parents.

If for any reason something goes wrong it's their responsibility and they take the fall....not cool in my book bro.
