Remember those wet jars? I decided to open one.. Results = wtf
    #12559012 - 05/13/10 10:47 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

So you remember those jars I thought were too wet? The ones where I could see water moving in the bottom when I tilted it? Just to test and see if they were really too wet I decided to sacrifice one of them to actually check the moisture content.. I opened it up in a different room, poured it out and... The grain was not wet at all.. Check the jar and the water is gone... WTF?

What happened? How did the water that was moving in the bottom of the jar just disappear? Was there some sort of pressure differential causing the water to remain a liquid and then vaporize when the jar was opened?

I'm not seeing shit, I swear.

1. If  mycelium is already growing - perhaps it used up moisture content to produce more mycelium

2. If you made holes or something for gas exchange like you should have, some of the water content will change

No Myc growing yet

I did make holes for GE, but there was water.. Opened it and no water. Total time = 30 seconds.

whoa Johny... WHOA! lol

So let me get this straight.  Your just chillin, mindin your own business when you pick up this jar only to find a little aquifer hangin out at the bottom.  You then proceed to open said jar and in that 1/2 second time frame, the water/liquid mysteriously dissipates?

... I dont know what to say really, if what your saying is correct, thats really damn weird.

Sorry I wasnt more help, Im really curious to find out what happened now!

well all i can say is that there couldn't be a pressure differential since you had to have some sort of GE which would equalize pressure.

Jars will often appear wet right after PC'ing but the grains can re-absorb that moisture after sitting a day or two.

As long as you don't have standing water (after a day or two) it's fine.

just we are all clear, you hand noticeable standing water in the jar after many days of no growth, you opened it dumped it out, and there was zero water?

Yep I'm with spongi on this one.

It was either the grains soaked it back up,or it evaporated.

Well by standing water I mean maybe 1/32 - 1/16 of an inch at the bottom. Just enough to make one layer of millet stick. When I did tilt the jar it DID move. Jusssssst enough to see pool in one corner. It was PC'd 3 days ago.No Myc growth at all yet

i would not worry over 3 days of no growth, if someone had a 'strain' that showed growth after 3 days, everyone would be after it. tho the disappearing water is interesting i think spongi is right. do the rest of the jars still show water? keep us updated.
