Do any of you see an advantage to using lights both in 6500k and about 3000k range?

It mimics more daylight range of color, and these two types of colors in unison can be used to grow plants...
Like the LED bulb here.
http://www.earthled.com/growled-led-grow-lights.html
Do you think having more natural light would produce more pins?? Or would it be best to stick with 6500k and just add more lux to help initiate a higher pin ratio?
Thanks

I've used incandescent lamps along with 6500K fluorescent and there was no benefit. In addition, the incandescent 3000K lamps use up to five times the electricity of fluorescent. Mushrooms seem to prefer lights in the higher end of the spectrum, with 6500K being perfect. Above or below that color temperature results in a drop in performance. RR

So really then a lux increase is what's required for better pin production. I guess brighter is better then.

I thought that all light did was give them direction. I've only grown mushrooms once, but when I did it was in darkness. Worked fine.

I think I read somewhere that RR stated that 2000+ LUX increased pins very drastically.

he just posted on this thread saying that it is pointless using stuff other than 6500k

lux refers to the brightness while K(kelvin) refers to the color spectrum.

What I would like to know is the math for finding lux.
All I've been able to find is that 1 lux = 1 lumen per square meter or 10.76 square feet.
So if one is using say a 2000 lumen bulb over an 18" x 12" or 1.5 square foot monotub with that, how many lux is the monotub receiving?
Really I'm not too worried about it but would like to know the math for finding how many lux my monotub would be getting.

From what I just found http://www.gardenscure.com/420/lighting/55774-lux-vs-lumens.html
lumens per square foot = lux/10.76
15,000 lux/10.76 = 1394 lumens per square foot...
So 2000 lux/10.76 = 185.8736 lumens per suqare foot
So if I have a 2000 lumen bulb hung over a 1.5 square foot area using the inverse square lumen law I would have 1333.3333 lumens per square foot so 14,346 lux?
2000/1.5 = 1333.3333 lumens per square foot
1333.3333 x 10.76 = 14,346.6663 lux
Can you confirm,RR or anyone else?

Nice guys. There is also a formula at Wikipedia that states what LUX is. If you just write down what you have, and how much it's covering/hitting then you could figure the LUX out.
Awesome link Mad Hatter. =)

And those "Earth LED's" are going to be great for my cacti garden over Wintertime.
I might actually get the T5 tubes so there is even more light. I just figured that combining the two spectrum that plants use might also be beneficial to mushrooms because they too are in the sunlight as well.
Cheers all!
