Try taking in a little more sterile air into the syringe. This will let you shake it more vigourosly

Maybe you should explain to him how to suck in more sterile air...so he doesn't get contams.

good point! my question to u is why didn't you use your post to tell him how?
Anyhow get someone to burn a lighter while u hold the tip of the syringe on the flame, while doing this suck in a little more air.

I've never done this, but if it were me I'd first spray the surrounding area with lysol, then wave a lighter around for awhile (WAIT until the lysol has settled first!!), then have someone light the pin while you withdraw about 1cc of air. Recap the pin and shake. Some molds are resiliant little fuckers...I used to work in a biotech lab so I've dealt with them first hand.

Clumps are good..I would have to agree with boxtop...no need to have air in the syringe...If you see clumps then..that should tell you there is plenty of spores in the solution...Shake it and do it ..
