some corn/pc questions...

hi there!
first attempt was such a mess... with a 10 psi pc filled at 1 inch after two hours i noticed that i was running pc dry and the part of the jar faced with pc's bottom (for capacity reasons i put the jar in horizontal position)and that part of corn were burned....
are two hours suitable for corn on a 10 psi pc?
the guide recommend one inch water... is it really enough for 90'-120'? i suppose i should fill with a more amount next time...
corns even before sterilizing appeared exploded.... is it normal? are they oversoaked?

i add a couple inches of water, and i regularly pc for a couple hours at a time for large bagged substrates. so that should work for you, as far as the 10psi, yeah, just do it longer...it should still work fine

Put a hand towel or something to elevate the jars off the burner. Also I think your doing it too long, I succeed at PCing it for 30mins at 15 psi. I dont know if it just heats up faster or what, but it works.
Maybe this time try 45.
Edit P.S. Once you reach max pressure reduce the heat. As low as it will go while sustaining max pressure.

Forget corn, it's tne least friendly grain. Sure it works, but it's a huge pain in the ass. Spend a bit more and get rye berries, follow RR's rye tek, and enjoy excellent grain spawn.

Canned hominy also works. theres a tek for it and there are no endospores. Just make sure it has the least amount of sodium you can find. (No endospores means you can get away with steaming it. Just make sure you rinse it off with water(if your going to try))

Have you ever used popcorn doc? I think if possible its best to use whatever substrate is most near, because that will usually be the cheapest. WBS is cheap, but just too damn messy imo.

I've tried p'corn. It's not any cheaper here, and much harder to work with. No point to it.
WBS doesn't make a mess for me, but I was a cook for years and years.

i'm a just a bit confused now... i read a lot discordant information about pressure cooking time (who say 30-45, who 60-90, and 120+)
yeah i know it depends by the pc but.... there's a little difference between 45' and two hours, don't you think so?
corn i see it's a disputed question... who loves and who hate, who says that they fruit weak shrooms and who don't, who says corn are messy....
doc why do you say so?

I pc quart jars 2 hours minimum.
As for why I don't like it: it doesn't work as well as other grains for our purposes.

??? You turn it down once it gets to full pressure, it should not lose much water. You may need a new gasket.

Try more water? Really turn it down, too. As low as you can and maintain pressure, the rocker wil just barely move.

my pc doesn't have a rocker... it has just two valve: the peatcock and the security valve... nothing else... it's a really cheap pc...
i've just filled it with 2/3 of maximum water and turned down the heat... but if i put a drop on the lid it doesn't take 2-3 seconds to evaporate, but almost 20"....
uff this stuff is really getting me discouraged...
damned 10 psi pc...

I have two small pcs that work well... but maybe yours doesn't.
What brand/model? Is the owner's manual available online?

the owner's manual? a shitty piece of paper...
really i can't tell nothing more than this...
20" with the drop test does mean that it doesn't work at all?

If you read into it elevation has a lot to do with pcing time. I alway do 90mins that has been enough for me.
