Were to get Variable Frequency Drive speed controller online?

I have a 5.5 Amp blower for my hood and I haven't found any VFD speed controller for it. I purchased a speedster controller (Chinese) but it overheats the blower's capacitor and causes the blower to shut off after 10 minutes of running. I tried getting one from littlegreenhouse.com recommended by RR, but they don't ship international. Any idea?

Just to bumpy-update this thread, I asked to littlegreenhouse.com if those speed controllers they sell are indeed rheostats and they affirmed they are rheostats. I checked a post where RR said that rheostats are not made for AC motors, only for DC. So it's kind of confusing. Does anyone know if getting rid of the blower's capacitor would make the motor suitable for a rheostat like the speedster controller? I know it would need manual start up though. But would it damage the motor?

They're not rheostats. It's common for sales people to not understand the difference. They're garden and greenhouse people, not electricians.
Search for 'motor speed controllers' online and look for one that can handle the amperage of your motor. You should be able to find one in your area. If not, simply block part of the intake off with cardboard to accomplish nearly the same thing.
Never try to run a motor designed to operate with a capacitor without it. RR

That speedster controller you posted will work fine. You just want to make sure whatever your using can handle the amperage of the motor. A dimmer switch cant do that and will eventually overheat and melt.

So you mean the speedster is not a rheostat? would it be, or work as a variable frequency controller that reduces it's supply of voltage instead of a simple variable resister that reduces current voltage? speedster data link
BTW covering the intake of the blower won't work for me because it's a loud noisy one, with the controller I won't have neighbors complaining.
