Too Hot - Opinions?

Right now I've got 8 GT jars floating (in plastic cups weighed down at the bottom so they stay floating straight) in a tub with a $9.99 water heater. The problem is I cant seem to get the water temperature to got below 88 with this piece of shit. I'm fairly confident in how sterile I did the first few steps so I'm willing to bear the extra risk of contamination if I keeep the jars in the heated water... besides that- do you guys think I should take the jars out or not? Is it that big of a deal?

Are there any ideas of how I can cool down the water and keep the heater in?

Basically- is 88 water temp too hot for my jars to float in for the first few weeks?

Stamets has a curve for cubensis growth, in TMC - Over 85 brings down colonization speeds signifigantly, much more so than lower temps.

If it's working for you, keep with it. If it's too slow, you know why.

so actually i know we want temps from 70-80 but you mean that is actually stops more at higher than lower? I have right now my incubator at 69-71 deg.. I am going to get a aqua. heater or a heat rock..

Why don't you try a quart jar filled with water and the heater in that. Use a thermometer to check the air temp and if it's too high then vent the container a little. I don't think you will need to with the rubbermaid container you are using.
