I followed both Programming Methodology and Programming Abstractions. I like the pace of Programming Abstractions.

Much agreed, though I like the teaching style of the methodology teacher more. Give n' take I guess.

Yeah, he is a better teacher and it is a good introductory course. It was a bit too slow at times for me though as I wasn't new to it.

I have watched Walter Lewin's lectures on physics on the MIT site like 3 times all the way through.  That guy is an amazing physics teacher.

I'm going to have to check out some of these Stanford ones, thanks for the links man!

I also watched Walter Lewin's lectures on physics. Enjoyed it! I just googled him and found out he was a student at my university in Holland. To bad he left, could have been my teacher.

I just found out via NY times that Stanford is offering 3 free online introductory courses - Artificial Intelligence, Databases, and Machine Learning. Artificial Intelligence has 98,000+ enrolled already

How it works:

link to the article - http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/16/science/16stanford.html?_r=1 - the article contains the link to class sign up

I'm think I'm gonna do this.. You get support in the form of quizzes & exams, so I think it'll be more interactive than just a video lecture.

That's pretty cool.  It's an amazing use of the internet: sharing top-notch high technology education to the entire world.  It can't hurt anybody to have this kind of knowledge spread around;  I'm really looking forward to see where this is in 5 years with a lot more course offerings.

I agree! I think its evidence that a vast number of people want to educate themselves - I just hope these online courses come with forums so that all the enrollees will have somewhere to productively release their musings.
