perlite question
    #1254417 - 01/28/03 07:05 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Quick question... how long is a pile of perlite good for? If I want to re-use it for a new batch of cakes, do I need to do anything to it? I'm scheduled to birth a cake tomorrow, and I discovered this morning that it's awfully hard to find perlite in this area during the winter.

Be sure to use warm water. Hot water will evaporate the bleach.

This seems to have worked well, my previously dirty perlite is now a brilliant white. However, even though I drained the perlite pretty thoroughly, it still smells like bleach. Is this going to harm my cakes? Note, I don't think there can be a significant amount of actual liquid bleach in there, I stuck my hand in with no ill effects.
