Is it possible to wet & drain perlite inside my SGFC?
    #12542202 - 05/11/10 10:03 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

I am placing my first set of cakes into my SGFC tonight, and I want to make sure the perlite has as much water on it surface area as possible.

I put some perlite in the chamber a few days ago to experiment with humidity.  I want to add a little bit more before birthing the cakes.

My question is can I add dry perlite right into my FC and rinse it all thoroughly allowing the excess water to drain out the holes in the bottom of the chamber?  I don't see why this would be a problem, but I just wanted to ask first...

As stated above, yes definitely. One thing that I have learned though is if you are using a thinly made plastic tub for your terrarium, it might benefit you to brace the middle part on the bottom so it doesn't crack your terrarium while you drain all that perlite.

Do not deny the classical approach, simply as a reaction, or you will have created another pattern and trapped yourself there.
