Question about gypsum (other than where to get it)

So, I used some garden gypsum this time in my tub, I dissolved it in the water that i used to mix with my verm and coir... and I am curious, do gypsum speed up the colonization time and slow down time for fruiting... I reach full colonization, or close to it withing just a few days, around 5... and not at a very high ratio of spawn:bulk... like I said if it wasn't at full colonization it was very hard to tell, as everything was white....
but it's been well over a week since then and my last 5-6 grows I had my tub fruit very fast after full colonization....
does gypsum slow it down... I've started to notice a few knots, not very many... but maybe like 2-3 then a cluster or 7 or 8...
I've also had a little bit of a trich outbreak in my GR ... but it usually doesn't effect till the middle of the second flush... so I don't think it's had time to fuck up my grow yet judging from how fast the mycellium took over the coir...
if anyone has any facts or information that would be helpful on gypsum, please let me know... this is my first grow with the stuff.. if it really slows me down a lot like this every time I don't plan on using it as I was getting close to a half pound on my first flush already.

Gypsum isn't going to speed up or slow down colonization. If your bulk is fully colonized in five days, you're growing mold. RR

Well, It probably was not fully colonized because, as stated earlier I noticed a few knots, now there are a lot more, so it must of just been going slow for whatever reason, maybe the gypsum used more water and less was provided overall through the sub... because it seems a little drier than normal... so I may mist it once or something... probably not unless I don't see pins in a week or so... lately though I've been using about a 1:1.5 ratio using nearly 10 full quarts of spawn to a brick of coir... and c ouple quarts verm... so spawn to fruiting has been under 2 weeks, with no mold until 2nd-3rd flush... but this one I used around 5 quarts wbs... brick coir- 2 quarts verm and a quart of pelletized gypsum... so I'm thinking maybe I should of altered my water content... but we'll see... I'm hoping to have good results with the gypsum, so I cross my fingers... because It sure was a pain in the ass mixing that shit up in water, it foamed up and made a mess....
Also RR... have you noticed any difference between using the smaller grade verm opposed to the larger industrial sized verm.... All I could find at the time was the bags at Home depot, but I noticed at Ace they have some bigger nug'd verm for around the same price and a much bigger bag... is this better?
