Lysol....Not Made for Disinfecting Air?
    #1253995 - 01/27/03 05:17 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

I saw a commericial the other day for a disinfecting spray that claimed Lysol was not so called "designed" for disinfecting air. Only surfaces.(but ours is, so use ours). I didn't catch the name of the spray they were advertising.. But is this true? And are there better alternatives?

i just read the label on a lysol can lyin round the house and yes its more for surfaces... but it still works when coming in contact with any bacteria whether it be in the air or on the counter. its worked... so as they say, if its not broke, dont fix it...

as they say, if it works dont fuck with it. maybe the other spray is a little better or maybe its just advertising bullshit. either way lysol will work fine.if you are overly concerned you should build a glove box but its not absolutely neccessary.

Lysol is good stuff. Ive used it in the air and on whatever may touch anything I need free of contams. Ive have no contams as of yet.

Bavet.. i haven't either(knock on wood)...But if I am trying to disinfect the air and there is something better then Lysol..Then I think it would be worth looking at considering anything that improves the chance of not getting contams would be a plus.?  :smirk:

PEOPLE: A more cost effective and overall beter method is just diluting iso alcohol
into a spray bottle. Also lysol sprays are not good for the enviroment and do not completely evaporate like iso

I don't think just iso alcohol and H2O would be as affective as lysol?

Ever seen movies like Outbreak...virus movies where you see those researchers wearing bubble suits step into special showers after working the a lab?

In the CDC in Georgia, they have those suits and they have those showers. They also work with some of the deadliest stuff on earth. The spray in that shower is a 10% Lysol solution.

That should tell you something.

Yes I've seen that (those)movie(s)....But that movie is how old...hehe.?...And...Lysol will work and does..but...if someone were to say that they have a spray that can kill more airbourne contaminants than Lysol...even 5% more then I think that that is a 5% less chance that I'll have any bacterial (or bio)contams. ???

It doesnt take much to wield a lysol can efficiently, if you use it right then that 5% extra wouldnt matter anyways

Reason:
so is this topic, please remember to check post dates before ressurecting dead posts.

FYI lysol is a surface disinfectant, oust is better suited for the air.
