I believe the red and green spectrums will do nothing for mushroom growth. Blacklight causes mutations. I'm pretty sure everything else is fine (blue being optimal).

Blacklight causes mutations? Well then.. I'll definitely have to experiment with a batch under blacklight. Are mutated mushies still edible?

I believe the red and green spectrums will do nothing for mushroom growth. Of course they won't help the growth, no light will. I'm sure you mean they will do nothing for the pinning, and I'd like you to tell that to my green x-mas lights that have pinned many a mushrooms. It was left totally dark for a week other then the green lights on a timer. My was I surprised when i took a look.
perhaps someone could do some experiments with red, green, and blacklights to verify this. I'v heard bad things about blacklights but to my knowledge anything solid has yet to be said about them in the way of mutations.

I am talking about lights that only emit these color spectrums. White light is fine. Also: 4. Light Psilocybe cubensis is a photosensitive mushroom, meaning certain spectra of light are necessary for pinhead formation and development. Ps. cubensis responds best to light heavy in the blue- and ultraviolet spectrums, specifically which peak at 370, 440, and 460 nanometers. Red, infrared, and green light on the other hand are ineffective at initiating pinheads. A few hours of light per day is really all that is needed.
