Hey guys whats up. I've noticed that about 1 minute before i fall asleep each night i get closed eye visuals. They are in color and 2D. I have no idea why this happens. Any of you guys had the same thing happen or have an idea why it happens? peace

That's interesting, how do you know it's one minute before you fall asleep? I've tried to time when I go asleep before, but I can't because I don't know when I fall asleep, if that makes sense
In answer to your question though, I can see patterns and colours when I close my eyes in a dark room. Sometimes I even get audio hallucinations when I get really into it. It's pretty crazy!

Well, as soon as i get the CEV's, i see them for about a minute then boom its the next day. Ive never got the CEV's and seem them for like 5 minutes, then gotten up and etc.. when they come, i fall asleep soon after.

Its your dreams kicking in, buddy
Enjoy them. You can even get OEVs too..... just keep messing with them, keep trying to influence them, and eventually you can take complete control over them.

I can always actively tell when im falling asleep, I found out that when I just let my mind wander and relax entirely i will start absently thinking of very wierd things that I would not awake, and I just slip off.
I really want to get into the lucid dreaming thing iv been reading about on erowid.

Yeah the main key is practice...
You can't just want to do it sometimes - you really have to work at it every night for a long long time and eventually you'll start catching on.
It really takes a lot more effort and dedication than most people may think. Good luck Its truely the best video-game/dream/movie/production/story/whatever that you can experience.

Kanibus, I experienced the exact same phenomenon in the past. It seemed to have been the result of LSD usage. For about the next 3 months, on closing my eyes to go to sleep at night I would experience a myriad of CEVs, and then bam wake up and it would be next day.
I thought it was great, and definitely made going to sleep easy!
Cheers, Jono.

Actually, I posted a thread about this very same thing a week or two ago. Apparently, it's called 'hypnogogic phenomenon'. I get it too and it is really vivid.

Actually you dont dream right away. First you go into a light sleep, then a deeper sleep, then even deeper. Then after that you go into R.E.M. sleep, thats when you dream.

from what I've read, REM-sleep is what triggers the deepest dreams....
the hypnogogic imagery present while you're JUST falling asleep is still classified as a dream

I remember doing the same thing when I was younger, I would place 4 fingers over my eyes, and kind of rub my eyes in a litte for like 20 seconds and I would see all these cool colors. amazing

you can do the same thing without rubbing your eyes... there are muscles around your eye that will enable you to do that without moving anything but your eyes.

This truley is an interesting subject, because I too have tried to get CEV's like I get on high doses of DXM, but have unable to reproduce the effects to any degree without drugs...
There is a difference between visualizing and actually SEEING, and it truley is amazing and something I would love to learn, it seems like it would be a great artistic tool and very entertaining.

I've noticed when I lay in bed and LOOK for these images, they won't come. When I STOP looking for them, and just start looking AT them, they're all over!
