While boiling (not using a pressure cooker) should i just crank the stove to max, then let off to like 7 or 8 when its boiling? Or should it just be left cranked for the full duration.
Tried doing a search, but I dont have time to filter through the crap since Im boiling them jars right now! just started, quick replies would be appreciated

You want it to be boiling but not so much as to have everything splashing over the tops. So I would say that you dont want it cranked all the way up.

I did that too, until I got a PC. If you have a chance, get a PC. Peace BC

I put my stove on it's highest setting until the water begins to boil. Then I lower the setting until the water has reached a type of "gentle" boil.

do what angry mycologist said! put a towel on the downside of your pot. after boiling let the jars cool (overnight) IN THE POT. you won't have any contams if you do everything right

well i was expecting my spores to be here today, so i could get rolling. But they didnt show up.
I sterilized last night, theyre still in the pot. I havent opened the pot since i turned off the heat... probably still a bunch of water in there. How long can they sit like this before i have to resterilize them? Im hoping my spores get here tomorrow, or by friday at the latest...

if they are *sterile* and *sealed* they will remain sterile until they are no longer sealed.

well they do have the holes in the lid for innoculation, but those are still covered with a layer of tinfoil from sterilization...
I guess they should be fine, I havent opened the pot since they finished and I dont plan to until innoculation.
