Hello I'm new to mushroom growing and trying to work out some good options for growing myclium using PF TEK. glass jars are expensive and I was looking in to using some microwave safe plastic containers.
http://www.cater4you.co.uk/acatalog/plastic-take-away-tubs-and-containers.html
Does any one no if these containers (16fl.oz Clear Round Plastic Container and Lid) would be suitable and no the pros and cons of using them?
I would really appreciate any help on this subject, Thanks.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9508876 Spongiforms tek took less than a min with the search engine. it really is the best tool here.
Beat me to it :-D
Those 16 oz Polypropylene containers look perfect.
I would not recommend cooking them in the microwave though, steam or PC as normal.

why does everyone insist that jars are so damn expensive
12 1/2 pint jars = 9$ uses? endless... not exactly breaking bank to invest in something that you are going to love and will want jars eventually
Still trying to figure out when the 10$ bill became such a commodity
-------------------- fuck it im too high tryin to find loopholes and shit... ill report back when my house is a mushroom -just me-

However, using plastic allows you to make larger cakes that colonize just as well as half pint cakes.
Some examples:
Notice the half pint jar in between those rather large pf blocks.
And a batch of PE cakes in plastic containers ranging from 1/4 pint to 1 quart.

Well in America they are, but in the UK these canning jars are non existent and if you cann find them excuse the pun, they are very expensive. if you want to make some money shipping them in bulk to me that would be cool.

it became a commodity like 10 years ago. idk where u get ur jars ffrom for that price, but most places dont carry them in stock and have to be ordered. base price for me is at least $15 for 12 jars, after s&h its up to about $25. so thats 2 bucks a jar. it would get expensive after awhile to keep buying them. not to mention wasteful and harmful to the planet. im glad u got a good hookup tho, wish i did.

Inoculating with LC and proper incubation, 7-9 days. Then a week to consolidate, provided you're not going to spawn to bulk.
