sterilization q

Ok, say i make my substrate brf/verm, put em in my jars, put the lids and rings on. Can i sterilize them and then make innoculation holes after?

Or is there some reason for having the holes present for sterilization. The only reason i could think of is people were reusing their old lids. I got some new ones, would this be allright?

I guess making holes post sterilization could bring in new contams..... probably, well just wondering.. any replies would be appreciated, that arent rude.

You're gonna want those holes to be there pre-sterilization, otherwise pressure may cause the jars to crack.

You answered your own question!

Plus its easier to make the holes before.
I use a drill...the metal would go into the substrate if I did it after sterilizing the jars.
I have one jar that I use for just drilling holes in lids...never use it for substrate.
