White Christmas tree lights.

They are cheap and easy. Plus they won't get hot and start fires/drive the temp up.

That depends on the spectrum of color the light emits....

i believe that blue spectrum lights affect mushrooms the most. and additionally lights on the red side of the spectrum didn't do anything for the mushies....
just my 2 cents

Just use a compact fluorescent. They are in the right spectrum range, cool, cheap and availible everywhere.
I'm nobody.

Guess what... you don't need a light at all! An occasional flash of indirect light is all thats needed. You would have to go out of your way keeping everything in complete darkness to stop fruiting. Try it.

Avoid using black lights at all costs. They create mutants.

I thought of that a little while ago. It would get pretty expensive and they give off so little light it isn't even worth it.

yeah ive seen ones that emit green red and blue light, but there are ones that are pretty much an incandescent bulb.. its like 4 watts or something, really small but its like a regular house bulb in reference to the spectrum of light it emits.

I don't see any problem with that then. Go for it
