Heat blanket (colonization)
    #1251805 - 01/27/03 12:30 AM (21 years, 25 days ago)

My friend was thinking of keeping his jars in a heat blanket during colonization. The temperature can be regulated with a dial, and is monitored with a digital temp gauge (with an extended wire to monitor other temps, which would be inside the blanket). Anything sound wrong about doing this?

From what I know, heat blankets are notorious for overheating the jars.

I lost 12 jars to my "new" inccubator. I just put them on it in a large rubbermaid. Cooked the shit out of the bottoms and stopped ALL mycelial growth.

In my opinion NEVER allow the heat blanket to touch your jars. I rolled it up, put it in a cupboard on max and just leave my jars in the cupboard with it. Works great....but remember my warning!!
