jars vs time
    #1252432 - 01/27/03 08:51 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

how long can my brf/verm jars sit around?

I havent gotten around to sterilizing them yet, and Im just wondering if they sit around for too long will they lost some of their moisture content or have any other adverse effects?

I think its been like 4 days since I made them, just dont have the time for sterilization right now and probably will not for a few days... originally I did, but something came up.

they should be ok for quite a while .... if it's very dry, you might want to wrap them in saran wrap until ready for sterilization

You will get contams.
You need to sterilize the jars to store them.
I did a test on some un-sterilized jars about 6 months ago.
The jars contamed in 3 to 4 days.

Anno said awhile back that they would be sterilized within 24 hours...If I remember correctly.
Maybe he will answer this thread.

You can store sterilized jars for quite awhile...on the other hand.

Yes. 24 hours as a maximum, best right away.
It really depends on the ambient temperature how fast the contaminats begin to grow.
In summer 12 hours may already be too long.

A long time if they are sterilized correctly.

Anno,
Thanks for the response.
I didn't want to mis-quote you!

They might still be bad. You may have some shit left behind from the contams.
