THose cakes look like they are about to start fruiting anytime. Great job
I would suggest just using a plastic tote and perlite for your fruiting chamber. Just fan a few times a day with the lid. It is much simpler than having an air pump. I also don't use a light, just have the shotgun chamber out in the room where it gets indirect sunlight and have had no problems. But it does not look like you are having any problems either, so keep up the good work.

Good, your setup is fine except for the 3000k bulb. You mentioned your closet- if you are like me and want to use the existing ceiling fixture with a compact fluorescent rather than installing another light source you will have issues keeping the light cycle steady because it's impossible to find an automatic timer that screws into a light socket rather than an outlet. I got sick of trying to manually turn the switch on and off every 12-14 hours, so I ordered one of these:
http://www.improvementscatalog.com/product/code/357359.do?cm_mmc=NEXTAG-_-IndoorTimers-_-2010-_-357359&code-macs=MP0NEXTAG&code=MP0NEXTAG&mr:referralID=f315dad4-568b-11df-9198-0026b958ace7
It's a bit pricey for a timer but I think it will be worth it to have a steady automatic light cycle- and it's probably about the same as installing an overhead fluorescent and running off a wall timer.

I've had a setup similar to this in the past .. the pump will give it enough FAE. but I still opened up once a day and fanned pluss it cleared the lid from too much condensation raining on the cakes 24/7 here is a pic of what i had.
I'ts on the bottom. Just ambient lighting. Worked ok .. but was a bitch washing all the hydro balls after each grow.

UPDATE:
Ok so now I'm on day 4, and it seems to be going ok. Got that 10W 6500K bulb running 12/12. I tweaked the FC a little, added some 1/8" holes around the dome to improve FAE. A few updated pics:

My only concern is that droplets of water are sometimes forming on the myc. The second pic is a perfect example. IIRC, that is not a good thing.... Advise anyone?

standing water increases chances for contams. just fan more often. water evaporating from the surface of the cakes is a major pinning trigger.

Yeah, mist before fanning unless you're having humidity issues

OK, day 5 and the cakes have a sort-of "matted down" look. Im a little worried they look a bit worse off than before.....Any insight? I don;t want to have to start all over again. Thanks.

You need to chill out and be patience. I know its next to impossible. Your dont need to start worrying till the 2 week mark. Just keep misting and fanning and they will come. Patience is absolutely required to be good at this hobby. besides its rumored that the longer they take the more potent they will be.

Well Im on day six, not much has changed, yet the cakes look fine. I have noticed during the night the temps sometimes get into the mid 60's. I'd say average temp in a 24 hour period is around 70. Is this too low? Will it postpone fruiting?

If you want to speed things up, keep the temps between 77-80. But in all honesty, it doesn't matter too much at this point. As long as you aren't going below 60 the cool temps won't stop fruiting. However, cooler temps will slow down the fruiting cycle somewhat. I was keeping things around 73-75 for the first week or two and was really surprised at how much quicker things went at 78. Depends on the strain, but I think the upper 70's are where things move the fastest.
You'll be fine either way though...
