My last trip was very odd. I took a decent amount (for me), of about 3 grams. I'm fit, and an average height, but for some reason I can trip off of a gram+.
So, I took ingested the shrooms via the old fashioned way (chewing and swallowing...), and laid down to watch LOTR:The Fellowship, with a friend. It's a great movie, of course, and I get distracted, until I realise that I'm already fairly far in to the movie. I look at my watch, and realise that an hour has passed already.
Of course, this is the point where I show my knowledge of a wide variety of expletives, thinking that the shrooms were very weak, and that I wasted money. So, I watch the movie for about 10 minutes, then go upstairs, fairly annoyed. I sit down with my parents, and sister, and watch six feet under (great show btw). After about 15-25 minutes, it hits me... hard. Luckily, my parents had a bit of wine that night, and didn't notice me stumbling downstairs again.
Has anyone else had this problem before, where the shrooms would take way too long to hit you? The most I have ever waited before feeling it has been 40 minutes before. I would expect an hour maybe, but an hour and a half? COuld it be that I didn't chew them up enough, and it took longer to process?

depending on what else is in your stomach at the time, youre stuff will take longer to digest and kick in
thats why its best to fast (at least for the day)
usually i will wake up and know im going to feast today and dont eat anything and just drink water and when i just chew and swallow, no lie last time it kicked my ass in 10 minutes by 15 i was already going strong

ive had shrooms take anywhere from 15mins to almost an hour to kick in. as chubby already mentioned eating a small amount of food or just drinking water can make a trip kick in faster and grinding your shrooms up in a coffee grinder and then taking them can also speed up the on set. all in all, just be patient, try not thinking about it and just doing something to take your mind off of what you've just done until your trip sets in.

This may sound crazy, but the first time I ate some mushies (~2.3 grams), it took somewhere between 1.5-2 hours to start. To be specific, I started feeling the intense energy rush at about 1.5 hours. I would describe myself the same as you . . . I'm about 6' and 175-180 lbs. A little while after I started feeling the energy rush I smoked some pot, thinking it would calm me down; haha, it blasted me off into a full blown psychadelic experience, but that's a different story.

dont worry. On one of my 6g+ trips it took almost 2.5 hrs for the shrooms to kick in, just enough time for us to get the tent set up, the fire built, ALL the forewood for the night gathered, and for me to have a beer and relax. The mushroom godess is looking out for you my friend, dont eat shrooms and then do something mundane, it seems to take longer that way

The longest it has taken for them to kick in for me is 2.5 hrs. They were 3g dry, chewed as you describe, but consumed after I had eaten a large dinner.
The quickest it has taken for them to kick in for me is under two minutes. This was a 7g dry, 1g wet mixed with 1/2 cup water in the blender and chugged after a 24hr fast. I had just enough time to walk the blender to the sink before they hit hard. I ended up crawling for my bedroom from the kitchen floor.

my first time i took 1.3 grams in capsule form, after an hour all my friends were tripping balls, we had all fasted and drank 250ml of water, same shrooms, same capsules, after 2 hours i felt a tiny body buzz but nothing mental, i gave up and went to pack a bowl, while looking for my pipe it hit me quite hard, i fell backwards because of the intense come up, went back in the room and was tripping for 5 hours

Sometimes it takes two hours, sometimes 15 minutes.

it usually hits me pretty hard...the last couple times only like 20-30 minutes before i start feeling really light, gidddy, and walls start breathing in the peripheral vision......i always eat on an empty stomach with some thing like yogurt and orange juice

I usually fast the day I eat shrooms... they start after only 10 to 20 min...

Dried shrooms always hit me after 15min. But yesterday i ate soms fresh shrooms for the first time and they hit me after 30-45min.

I totally varies with me. It can take anywhere for 30min to 2 hours. I always make sure to not eat for a few hours before I take them. It doesn't seem to be dependent on the dose either.

well Last tripp was very fast come on, it took about 5 minutes after drinking the brew although i did have a pill and the brew was spiked with wizz.

Same here. My first trip it took about 3 hours to kick in. I got frustrated and, since we didn't have any more shrooms, I decided that I could at least be very stoned so I tooka HUGE bong hit and BOOM it hit me hard. And ya I was gone for about 4 hours. I'm glad we didn't have anymore goodness knows what would have happned!!!

that happened to me too, last time i did em...i took 3.5 and it didenmt do shit for a few hours so i took the rest another 3.5 and about 30 mins later BOOM, i was gone for the next 8 hours
