DMT 'dreams' following experience

I'm fairly sure other people will have had similar experiences considering a close friend of mine has experienced nearly identical phenomena since first smoking DMT as well. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
A couple months ago a buddy living away at college was visiting town and brought quite a bit of DMT he'd extracted from a couple pounds of plant matter. Anyway, we all smoked it for our first times (loading ridiculously large hits due to the lack of a proper scale) and were, despite previous psychedelic experiences, all thoroughly blown away. A couple more earth & mind shattering experiences later over the next month or so, doubled with almost nightly collective discussions filled with talk of other dimensions, hyperintelligences and other such McKenna-derived speculation, I began to notice something unbelievably peculiar occurring every couple weeks.
A couple times in the morning while still in bed and before becoming fully 'awake,' straddling that gap between the dreamworld (which I usually don't remember) and awake-reality, I found myself facing the deep, tangled, neon, slithering and pulsing world of DMT for a split second - as if the image of this realm was shutting off at the moment of waking, fading away before any focus upon it could be managed.
This doesn't make any sense to me. I don't believe the 'DMT-dimension' is the place we go when we dream, simply because when I do remember my dreams they are of an entirely different nature from these experiences. Also, it's hard to believe I was just 'thinking about' or remembering the visions of my previous DMT trips, because the visions while under the influence of DMT and those which flashed during this gap between sleep and wake are so ridiculously complex, multi-faceted and foreign to normal human perception and experience that it is literally impossible for me to even think of the hallucinations and visualize them in my mind's eye during normal states of consciousness.
Sorry if this post is a little long-winded. I'm really interested to see others' thoughts concerning this, because to me it's all a huge mystery.

I get spontaneous rembereances of DMT experiences from time to time, not when im just waking up though generally. Dreams on the other hand are so redicuously out there that I cant even begin to speak on em.

The link does not directly answer your question, but it may be helpful in helping you think through what is going on. I haven't even read the entire thing, but it seems to be really interesting, and talks about strange sleep occurances and how they seem to be tied too with the psychedelic experience

Sleep paralysis hallucinations probably wouldn't compare to those of a DMT experience.
And it doesn't seem that he was in sleep paralysis either.

considering that DMT is thought to be one of (if not the) chemical that is produced by your brain to cause dreaming and altered states of consciousness outside of the generic drug induced verity.( i.e. "after-death" experiences, disciplined meditation, ect.) would it be too out of the picture to say that, perhaps, while your dreaming days after a DMT trip, your brain gets a mini DMT "flash" and puts you back into that state momentarily? or more precisely produces enough to make contemplating the memory easier?

i agree, but sadly its hard to do with 'Big Brother' breathing down the necks of all our usful scientists.
lucky there is quite a bit of information on the web!
SWIM would do DMT and practice lucid dreaming the night after and see what what happons

I think I might be interested in trying DMT when I can lucid dream nightly. It would make my dreams after my experience EVEN more lucid, and maybe I might even be able to go "further" in a dream. I would like to explore the idea. I just don't think I am ready for that experience yet, I haven't done any hallucinogens in a while, I don't think I am in the right mindset (of letting go). Plus some RL struggles currently. But definitely in my lifetime

yes, definetly, I've heard dreams after auyasca ceremonies are reminiscent of the jearney itself, and we all know how usful they can be in healing some of life's greatest strifes. harsh AS FUCK, but, useful non the less. that, I think, would be worth looking into aswell... after all, they both have the same active ingredient :P

I will also be doing aya in my lifetime, probably when I am a lot older.
I've read a lot of stuff on DMT, and it definitely has my attention... But I feel like I am doing most of the pushing in finding it, rather than letting it sorta come to me when I need it.

i dont know, whenever SWIM thought he was ready for a new psychedelic, it takes at least 3 months until he gets a chance to attempt it. when he does, it is usually a small amount and hardly worthy of a "teaching" experience. this is, of course, SWIM's experience, and many of my friends have had no issues... but i guess SWIM just has bad luck

Shrooms are usually available to SWIM a little further then just out of town, so its usually out of the way.
gotta get my hands on another one of those experiences! last time SWIM was playing with some incense and the smoke had an almost 'lense flare' effect to it...
afterword SWIM's buddy did a fire show, THAT was intense.!

SWIM's buddy is kind of a pyro and enjoys toying with fire, and is pretty good at makes little "shows" of such. like putting fire from one cup to another using just his finger, eating fire, ect.
P.S. SWIM is Somone. Who. Isnt. ME.

SWIM thinks that the next time he does shrooms, it will be a much higher dose then 2.5g more like 4.5g - 5.0g

Just take as many as you need man. For me, I like to have a "transitional" period, so I don't dose too high at first.
Like I'll take a couple g's and then go up from there. That's my ideal way to go though.

what SWIM will normally do is take the dose and just hit the experiance with kind of a "no-turning-back" attitude. he likes the feeling of after about 45 minutes to an hour thinking "when is it going to kick in-OH, ok, nvm" and just 'slingshoting' into the endeavour

Lucid Dreaming definitely is something worth getting into. I've had several psychadelic lucid dreams which consisted of being awake in an intensely real universe of fractals resembling CEVs. As soon as you can give your dreams directions you can move them anywhere, to DMT-like spheres as well. If you have experienced DMT before, of course.

Do it! It's some cool stuff. When I wake up, I just sit in my bed for a couple minutes trying to remember all my dreams. And it usually works.

I've been in the midst of a month-long "honey-moon" phase with the Deems, and I've noticed for the past week I've been remembering my dreams every night. I cant even remember the last time I could remember dreams let alone every night. Nothing TOO unusual happening in my dreams (usual dream strangeness), but I've been wondering if the dmt and the frequent dreams are interrelated

Yes, they are interrelated. Apparently it makes remembering dreams more easier, and your dreams are usually really vivid.

LOL, you will always wake up.
But I wanna try it, but I will just eat shrooms or down LSD in them. I haven't done DMT so I don't know. But maybe it applies for anything? Because your subconscious remember A LOT that your conscious doesn't.

that's a strange concept; "live sleeping, wake up dead" I can imagine Neo's voice:"There is some fiction in your truth, and some truth in your fiction. To know the truth, you must risk everything."
