Tasmanian + Z-Strain (Ralphsters)

Hey everyone, I'm new to the Shroomery, and recently purchased a Tasmanian and a Z-Strain syringe from Ralphster's Spores. Before I start everything, I'd like to ask a handful of questions about the strains, and the process in general.
First off - I've just done a bunch of searches on Z-Strain, and discovered that it was originally a ripoff of Golden Teachers by 'Keeper' (this guy sounds like such a sleazeball...). Ralphster's Spores, however, is a Shroomery sponsor, so I figure that his are somewhat more legitimate. Quote:
Boris said: After experiencing cultivation with this excellent strain, I have deemed it my new favorite. I can't leave out a trip report ! This strain was more on the visual side of the spectrum for me. Allot of people will just say its all in your head, and that all shrooms give the same trip. Typically most strains just seem to give a body high. It takes a respectably potent strain to give good visuals. the strongest body high I get are from my Texan strain, but they don't give good visuals. Some prefer a body high, and others love the visuals. Z-strain gave a, "good" body high, and excellent visuals. The come down was awesome. With most trips I always feel exhausted when I come down, but the Z-strain was more reluctantly peacefully.
The meaning for this post was to mainly give props to Ralph. Thanks for the top of the line products, and excellent customer service to boot. Hope the rest of you guys enjoy the post, and consider trying out the Z-strain with genetics that only Ralph can offer.
In any case.... #1: What is the origin of this strain?
#2: Does anyone have any recommendations for how to grow these, or can I use a Shotgun Terrarium / Poor Man's Pod with BRF/Vermiculite cakes?
#3: Should I use a Shotgun Terrarium or a Poor Man's Pod, and what are the advantages of each?
#4: Should I use BRF/Vermiculite for my cakes, or will I get better results from a different combination?
#5: Will it be a problem to grow both strains in the same terrarium? I've read that it won't make a difference unless you knock up a cake with both of them, but I just want to make sure.
Sorry to ask so many things, but I have a limited supply of time/money/spores, and am doing this more as a hobby than as a commercial grow operation. I'm looking for potency + quantity, but will not be disappointed by less-than-stellar yields.

1.) No idea. 2.) The way you described will work. Check out RR/Roadkill's videos if you haven't yet. 3.) Either one you use will work just fine. A poor man's pod is more expensive but makes things automated, meaning you don't have to fan or mist. However, a shot gun fc is cheaper, and works just as well if you tend to it. 4.) BRF/Verm is the most common recipe and will work fine. You can use other stuff if you want, like rye flour or wbs flour, but they're less common to find. None of them work better or worse, they're just different options. 5.) Not a problem at all.
Good luck!

Hey thanks for the quick reply! Do you think I could do something like a shotgun terrarium + an air pump through one of the tubes to automate it slightly?

1) They like all other ooms are a gift from god
2) Counts how much money you want to spend (poor mans pod is more expensive to make even though it has the name poor man) and how much time you want to invest in these ooms (shotgun means misting/fanning at least 3 times a day)
3) See #2
4)Use BRF/Verm because they are easy to find, if you feel confident in your skills, then case, you will get a lot more.
5) OMG you want to grow two different strains in the same terrarium, this might cause the end of life as we know it ....every cake grows independently it wont make a difference

1) ORIGIN, not DIVINE ORIGIN (xD) 2 & 3) I guess it'll depend on how much cash I run in to in the next couple weeks... might have to take up pimpin' again! 4) I want to use cakes to start off so I can have a ready supply of spores so that it's not a big deal if I mess up casing 5)....smartass!
Thanks for the feedback!

Yea, you could probably do something like that. You could also hook up a humidifier to completely automate it.

Would that work as an air pump + air stone under the vermiculite? Or would that pretty much make it a Pod..?

Perlite goes on the bottom, not verm. I wouldnt put an airpump under perlite either..I would take a jar filled with water and stick the air pump in it, and set it on the perlite with your cakes. Perlite shouldnt have standing water..so the airpump wouldnt work right under it. If you want an airpump underneath youd need the little round clay stone things (forgetting the name right now) and yeah it would be a poor mans pod.

I have a good amount of hydroton/geolite left from my hydroponics projects, I'd estimate a little over 8 liters. Do you think this would be enough for the recommended 3 1/2 inches in the 54QT tub for the PMP?
@scatmanrav: I meant perlite, sorry for the mistake!

Thanks thats the stuff. Search "PMP" username "magash" follow what he says. Never used the PMP..but it would depend on the size of your tub.
