Growing Sclerotia... Hell yes

Hello Everyone, I've been Checking this site out for quite a while and I've finally Decided to start growing my own Mushrooms.. I've read all up on pf tech and effecient ways of Fruiting... But rather than starting with Growing the Fruits I've decided to go with an easy start, so I bought an ATL#7 Syringe to Start Sclerotia Growth...
1.All I really want to know is if Anyone has Used Mycopath's presterilized 4lb bag of Rye Berries with ATL#7 Specificly for Growing Sclerotia? Here's a link http://www.mycopath.com/sterilized-rye-fungi-bag-4lb-p-1.html
2. 6CC's of the spores Should be plenty for a bag this size Right?
3. Is it better to start (as I'm a noob) with a Presterile Bag of substrate.. or should I go ahead and Sterilize my own using traditional PF tech methods?
I will eventually make my own substrates.. but for a first grow.. I figured A presterile bag would be the easiest way to go.
Any help would be appreciated.... Also, I'll be posting pictures of the process here within the next week or two when I get back into town.

I have tamp, Mexicana and ATL #7 growing right now. The atl is currently running circles around the rest of the strains. you do not need to use 6cc's for a 4 lb bag. I use just about 1cc for a 1/2 gallon jar. Atl colonizes like wild fire.. the other two have not even germinated yet and I saw growth in 3-4 days with the atl. I can not wait to see what this strain does when I make a lc out of it..
Good Luck!

you have a syringe for atl 7, now just get a bunch of food jars, or quart jars at the grocery store, drill holes in the lid, put polyfill in the holes as a filter. buy rye grains at your local store, soak them and boil them, then dry a bit and put in your jars. put tin foil on top and pressure cook them. then inject the spores and wait... its that simple, buy everything locally

Jingus and xxxfrekboyx
Thanks for all of the help! I'm def going to do several large jars of ATL But do you think that A presterile Bag that I bought online will work? or should I just screw that Idea and start with the Coffee and Rye Berry substrate on my own?

A pre-sterile bag should be fine. However, and this is just my opinion, I say do everything yourself. Why spend money paying someone else to do something for you that you can easily do yourself. I mean lets be honest, if your serious about this hobby then you'll eventually be preparing and sterilizing your own stuff anyway right? Might as well start now and learn how to do it.
With that said, if your just planning on experimenting a little bit and not wanting to get too serious about this hobby then by all means get the pre-sterilized stuff cuz that would be less expensive for you.
just my $0.02.

thanks Stainblue! That's exactly what I needed to know.
Now, I'm off to start my first batch... and when The Bags are done colonizing, I might even try to fruit some of the remaining batch.
Thanks again!

Atlantis 7 search for that name, with a username "workman" Hes from sporeworks and stablized the strain. Ps. Tampanensis and Mexicana also grow sclortia, you can search on them if you want too. I think Altantis is more impressive, as is workmans work.

Are grains suitable for sclerotia? I know that picking anything off grains will just cause it to crumble.

Yes? What would you use besides grains?
When you harvest you break it all apart..crumble the substrate (rye berries seem to work best) and pick out all the stones.

I Dont like the sound of Verm either... And honestly Rye Berry Grains and a little coffee are the absolute best way to produce a high yield of sclerotia. so some looking around through the threads on the topic, There is more than enough information on the subject.. Much of which comes from Cerventes and a few others..

No verm inside stones. Make a choice if you like, but don't spread misinformation.
