Spore Prints w/transparency ?
#1246817 - 01/24/03 09:34 PM (21 years, 2 months ago) |

was wondering if anyone's tried making prints with transparency sheets?
I read elsewhere that this method would work ...
print on transparency, then place another transparency on top, and scotch tape the sides.
one question ...
would the spores not stick to the sheet well, because of the slick surface?
overall opinions on this ?
thanks!

I have never seen transparency sheets with slick surfaces. It works though but dont use tape. There are these things you can get in hobby stores like Michaels that you put on the edges of pictures so you can connect them to paper.

I like using photo lamination sheets, then seal up the edges with a food sealer or hot iron.

i'm sure it'd work fine - easy to sterilise surface.
i bet they all scratch off into dust, though.

I use foil for the print and cover with the photo lamination.

what really sucks? = transparencies?
thought it'd be a good idea since you could easily see the spores, and also, isn't to sterilize [rubbing alcohol].
why wouldn't you want to tape the edges? and wouldn't a sealer create to much heat?

Why do you feel the need to insult someone who's trying to help?
Index cards, although idiot proof, do not travel through the mail too well, and the idea of using transparent plastic is a very good one. It allows you to see the print, without opening it, making it very easy to look at under a micrscope. Not to mention the fact that it would look cool
Tape would work fine, but I'd rather seal it. And the heat shouldn't be a problem, as long as you don't seal directly over the spores themselves

fredthetree ::
thanks for the help!
do you think the spores would not stick to the transparencies that well, and just crumble inside the package?
i have a eurosealer here, and would like to try out this idea, it sounds very efficient.
also, should i wrap it in foil afterwards, or would that be enough [along with putting it in a ziplock bag?]
where's the best place to store this? fridge? or would room-temp, in a cabinet do?
thanks agian!: )

How do index cards not travel through the mail too well? Also, how would you use a iron to seal it?

I like the prints on transparencys..Anno makes some great ones.
I hate index cards....the spores get stuck into the paper sometimes and its a fuking bitch to get them off.
I like Alum foil, glass slides and transparencys.
