Question Regaurding Moisture Droplets
    #1247900 - 01/25/03 01:03 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

Hello all,

A friend of mine has spawned rye berries into horse poo. The Spawn has ripped through the the Horse poo very nicely. The issue is that the inside of the container it was spawned into is covered in droplets of condensation. The condensation droplets are all over the nice white mass.

My friend fans two to three times a day - They have no way to check the humidity. They need need to find one with a remote sensor you can put into the container.

Anyway the question is what to do about the condensation droplets?

Thank you in advance.

Rub down the inside of the lid with vaseline. It is Preleium BAsed jel, and water doesnt stick to it. SHould solve your problem.

while coating the inside of your container with petroleum jelly might help prevent the condensation from forming on its walls, that doesn't deal with what the droplets are indicating - that there is generally too much moisture on the inside. I would suggest frequent fanning, and instead of vaselining the inside of your container, wipe it dry with paper towels.

Be careful not to dry things out too much, though. I have an inkling that *some* condensation is normal.

yeah i got the same problem..

i know now about the lid,, but what do i do about the droplets already covering my nice white bed of mycelium, ??? do i sponge these dry with paper towel? will this damage the casing? or infect it?

they will not dry up by themselves, the casing has been in the fruiting chamber for 2 days with a fair amount of moving air, but they are still there.

is it ok to leave the droplets on top of the mycelium of is this a problem?

Here Johny,, have a joint.. all your friends are doing it!!

that condensation is normal, don't worry about it.
