I got some fresh horse poo. I added warm water and broke it all up Added vermiculite. Then into the over at 170 for an hour. Days later I decide the poo was fresh and I outta leech it a bit. So run water through it in a strainer. Then i decide I better pasteurize it again. Another few days go by before I'm ready to use it. At the time I'm ready to use it I decide I better nuke it in the micro wave for 5 mins. Now that bag was sorta hot the other bag I did for 3 mins and it was not as hot. I proceeded to add hydrated lime and mix it up good. I used about 5 heaping table spoons into each bag. Am I asking for contamination or a way off PH? I used this stuff to sandwhich my colonised rye grain.

Why did you add hydrated lime to Poo? Unless there has been a recent discovery that I have not heard off (which may have very well happened) I have never heard of hydrated lime added to poo.
Oh, and why did you pasteurize it multiple times.
All you need to do: 1) Let the poo dry in the sun for a week or two. (I know, its winter, so maybe do it in a garage) 2) Pasteurize 3) Let drain and cool overnight 4) Spawn

I ussually function under the influence of marijuana. Been out a while now and mmm I just don't think the same.
I guess I was thinking about the lime cutting down the chance of contamination. Thinking I may have over heated and killed off any good bacteria. Make any sence?

Hmmmm, in peat moss yes, in poo no. See what happens with this batch, but if I were you, I'd just start up another batch minus the hydrated lime.

I have more jars soon to spawn new (composted horse poo) substrate. I'll see what happens with these lime poo trays anyway. Also will be starting some tasmanian soon.
So ok I use some horse poo to spawn, once spawned I add a casing like coco coir then move to fruiting chamber? I seem to have got some info mixed up somewhere.
Thanks

Well if you want a casing layer, you wait till the poo is colonized, not spawned. And you don't need a casing layer for the first flush, or for all flushes for that matter, but some people like to add one after the first flush, some like to do it before the first flush. Experiment, its fun and rewarding.
