active woodchip mushrooom?

Habitat:
Woodchips in Missouri

Gills:
Black

Stem:
1-2" or so

Cap:
spherical, light brown

Spore print color:
possibly black, the gills are black

Bruising:
blue

My friends found a couple mushies in the woodchips in front of a cop station. One is a dumbass and ate a couple w/out id. I asked for a description and the other friend told me it blued at the base after picking and that it was small and brown. I walked by and saw some more growing there today. I didn't pick them because some cops were standing around and talking right beside them. Are there any actives in Missouri that grow in woodchips? I guess the stem blued (my friends arent reliable) and the caps are small, brown, and spherical. I'm wondering if i should go back later to pick them. Thanks!

Your friends were being very unreliable, and they were wrong about them turning blue.

No. Just take some good pictures using a digital camera with macro mode enabled.

hell ya take pics and definetly try to make them bruise. just cut the base off with scissors and if its going to bruise blue it will for sure from the cut.

if alan says there are no wood lover actives in missouri he's probably right .but i feel nothing is ever written in stone and its still worth finding out wtf they are.
