Oh Shit! I accidentally went over 5 degrees pasteurizing...

Hello All,
I was just pastuerizing my poo just last night and around when I first got the temp up to 160 I let it be too long, and didn't keep an eye on it for like 10 minutes. When I went back to it the temp had reached up to 185 degrees. I was told to stay inbetween 160 and 180 when pasteurizing, so will this little mistake cost me my whole spawning attempt?
Does it mean that I killed some beneficial bacteria that helps the mycelium grow and keep contams out?
Am I doomed to get comtams on this one now?
I appreciate any responses, Gthirteens - "It's all I ever smoke"

it is my understanding that the bacteria you are trying to "save" will survive slightly higher temperatures for short periods of time. most likely you are fine.

What about up to 220 degrees at one point? I recently pasteurized some poo and it got up to 220. The mycelium is not growing through it that well But I doubt It will contamn. Will it still produce the same quality dung mushies?

The last pasteurization I seen, the substrate bag was left open and during the boil it was mixed around until the substrate temp was 160. The water surrounding the bag was up to +- 200. Constant monitoring with the probe around all sections of the bag verified that no part of the substrate went above 165, though the water was significally hotter. This was something I always wondered about, because watching other pasteruizations that were done by the tek rules with a closed off bag, the center and other areas of the bag never got above 120. 90% of those had contamination issues. The one I watched 2 weeks ago is going strong and no issues at all. Maybe the things were wrong I watched before, and the last one was done right, I dont know. Put your probe in the center of your substrate when you think you have the optimum pasteurization temp, report what you find.

I put all my poo in a pillow case, then fully submerged it into my pot. I put a couple ceramic cups on the top to make sure everything is fully submerged, then I brought everything up to 165-175 for one hour and a half (thanks to Xbox's Halo time passed much faster;) I used a candy thermometer that stayed about 2 inches above the bottom of the pan, to get the most accurate reading!
Oh yeah, my first poo test from 3 days ago is colonizing very well!! Since it was working good, I did another huge poo spawning last night in one of my tuppewares!! I still got 5 creeper jars to work with, I'm loving how far your jars go when you spawn!!
