I Think the whole of Georgia just about has a higher elevation than most of Alabama. That might make the difference.

Appalachias FTW, brah. The mean elevation of Georgia is higher than that of Alabama, but Alabama has climates and microclimates which could meet P. weilii's needs imo.  Meinert, seek elevations of ~1,000 ft. and tell us what you find. Anything can happen.

No.

This is where they have been found:

They are real close to NE Alabama so you should look for them there.

Some were found in South Carolina but they turned out to be Psilocybe caerulescens due to the pleurocystidia.

OK Alan so do you think that alot of the P. Weilii finds are a mixed bag of weilii and caerulescens? The pics in the mushroomobserver link are identical to alot of the ones I find for example

I was just discussing the same thing with weilii in my yard and I didnt really think there were anything but weilii but now I am not so sure.
If you look at the link Alan provided can you see any differences at all in those and the pics ive posted? I know you said the only reason they were identified as different was the micro work so ill have to send some off this spring...

What is it about that region of Georgia that makes it suitable for weilii? Theres gotta be SOMEWHERE else on the planet that might work.

I think its elevation and substrate. Id be looking for the caerulescens if i was anywhere near the areas weilii grow IE alabama and SC. They are obviously two very closely related species.
