No More P.C. !!!! hmmmmm...
    #1246366 - 01/24/03 02:26 PM (21 years, 2 months ago)

ok, i'm fucking stoned right now.. and here is a thought!!

What if::

You were to make a honey tek jar.. ie: water, honey, spores, germinate in 3-5 days...... :ooo:

Then pasteurise poop/straw mix, and pour honey water on top?

let this colonize and fruit!

the point: no need for a pc, and you could to bulk! make more prints, syringes, more honey water and go again! plus you eliminate the jar steps all together.
anyone try this? any pros and cons??

i will try, but would like info.

thx.

I think you'd get a really pretty rainbow of contams.  Just do PF and boil it's easy or I believe Ganja has a log going on where he used a micro and boiling on like millet or something to that effect.

Figure if you had poop and straw pasteurised and not sterilized, i wonder if it would be enough for the mycelium to take hold and get it going!!????

I will try. but .. any other opinions.. for fucks sakes .. it's friday night.

yeah, i see the honey water as likely to induce contamination - you would at least want to use an older jar, one where the fungus had time to digest most of the sugars in the water. Still, many contaminants grow much faster than psilocybes. I think it has a chance of working but also has a good chance of failure/making you sick or dead.

...not to say that you shouldn't try it though! give it a shot; write a tek.

I think you'll have to seperate most of the water from the mycelium.

Try the mycelium from a quart drained to 4 ounces to about a pint of dung. Once that takes, spawn about 3 quarts with it.

id' say that having a very high spawn:substrate ratio would be the only way to go. the emphasis is on "only" since we wouldn't be bothering with these damnn quart jars this long if this were feasible. not trying to say that an easier method couldn't be found. prove me wrong. i'll be happy if you can.

Stamets states that liquid innoculation is not sensible for any commercial endeavour, that doesn't necessarily mean it cannot be done, however I don't know if it could be done in very large quantities, just because it would throw off the moisture level of the substrate completely, I would imagine ending up in a nice stinky bacterial bloom.

What if you pastuerized in an oven without water, then inoculated with a pretermined amount of liquid? This would require some trial and error to get the right amount of liquid, but I don't see why the process would be any more contamination prone than using cakes or grains.

Addendum: I would go by harry_manback's advice, "to use an older jar, one where the fungus had time to digest most of the sugars in the water."

that's true, with some trial and error, it might be figured out.

I agree with the fact that you would have to do it with semi dry straw/dung as the water content would increase!!

if you let the honey water sit, will the mycelium fall to the bottom? if so, one could carefully pour out as much water as possible and then use as little water as you can with as much mycelium as possible!

Hmmm. interesting to say the least!

we shall see.

You could try taking out as much mycelium from the honey water
with a syringe then inject that into sterilized nosugared water leave
for a day to try to reduce the sugar content stir well and pour onto dryish
pasturized straw. In fact i may try this now lol.But im on a mushroom come down so will reaccess in a few days lol.
