Love my Fat Ass

Kramer and myself have seen a lot of shrooms in our day, lots of flushes, lots of different ways to do things.
Well, without a doubt this has to be one of the largest first flush mushrooms grown on a half pint cake that we have ever laid our eyes on.
This batch of cakes was left to colonize a little long and many invitro pins were on some the cakes when birthed.
All cakes(with the exception of the all white cake) were dunked for a few hours and then rolled in sterilized dry verm.
Then these cakes were ever so lovingly placed in the pmp and misted as needed.
One really turned out to be a fatass!
About 5 days ago. Our little fatass is right in the middle of the pod.

give it another day or two...

I thought that it might abort.

It didn't!

Took this pic ^, then crashed hard.
Woke up to a monster first flush mushroom.

It was not the only fatass in the pod, but it was most certainly the biggest.
The cluster of shrooms from that cake weighed in at around 150g wet. Mr. Fatass himself weighed 86 grams wet.
Just thought I would share.

Thats more than nice!!!! And they all do look plump
I had a 30 gram Creeper and 27 gram PE last year. I'd be happy with a 50-60 grammer this year.

Very nice, gives me some hope that my 1/2 pints might give me some good sized fruits!
Just out of curiosity, what kind of substrate did you use?

Don't get me wrong, this is not the biggest mushroom that I have ever seen, just the biggest first flush from a cake.
The strain(I prefer race) is a bit of a mystery, because I had a bunch of cakes, Ralphster's New and some of Kramer's standard.
Got them mixed up and didn't label them or anything so it could be either or, I am guessing Kramer's standard though.
I am interested to see what the second flush brings from this cake.
I am wondering if there are enough nutrients for another monster like that. The cake felt plenty firm and still had good weight to it, so it wasn't really depleted yet.
Oh boy! I love this hobby because it always gives me something to wait for!

I currently have a fatass growing on my cake. I hope it turns out like yours. I have a question though: How long did it take for that fatass to grow to maturity?

So I assume the substrate is a closely guarded secret?

The cake was placed in the pod on the 9th of this month and the fatass was picked a few hours ago.
From noticing the pin until harvest, I dunno, 5 or 6 days maybe.

I don't think that it is any secret that Kramer grows on millet/verm cakes.

Nice.
As for the PMP over a SG, I personally love my PMP over my SG I find it constantly produces better flushes/pin sets.
Maybe its the constant air. I still fan my PMP about 8-10 times a day. Fresh air is key

Both of them have their own perks, I guess.
Kramer is in the process of growing out cakes side by side in the pmp and the shotgun.
A detailed thread of the perks/drawbacks of each will be coming if/when we open the newbie lounge.

Take a tote and put 2 blubber bars on the bottom connected to a fish pump that has a duel output(most people cheap out and get small pumps) You want a bigger one. Then add 3 inches of perlite and 1 inch of water. I drilled 9 1/4 inch holes on the top of my lid.
it has worked out OUTSTANDING for me personally
Make sure the pump the always up high

I'm going to have to try that one. I assume that millet doesn't harbor endospores does it? Cause that's one main reason I don't want to bother with much else due to the tons of extra steps required for those endospores in most grains.

Started with this:

Taped the bubble wands in place with gorilla tape.

Then took my pocket knife and whittled some holes for the air hoses.
Filled with about 4 inches of perlite (gonna put a couple more inches in at some point, it is really hard to use too much perlite).

Looks great. I just ran 2 bubblier bars across the whole FC and then a diagonal one the other way. Spliced off my 2 output pump into 3 bars.
I must say I have noted the results from using a SG and PMP A Pf cake for me should yield 13+ grams.
you can never have to much perlite lol
