Brown rice flour is realy the only option if you still want to use the PF style tek. I found mine in the organics section of an average Kroger grocery store.

Not entirely so. I used just cooked brown uncle ben's rice in my jars and they turned out fine. I did sort of the niner tek. All you got to do is cook some up until it is to a consistency that would be edible. (e.g. The rice isn't hard, it's nice and fluffy, a lil springy when you bite into it; it's not mush either) Then just fork the rice into the jars and make sure it isn't dripping wet. Make sure you don't pack it in too tight, leave about 1/2-3/4 inches of space for a layer of perlite, vermiculite, or polyfill or whatever you're using, wipe the glass just above where the rice comes to, and fill with your choice. Pressure Cook the jars for about 40 minutes and let em cool. The next day you can innoculate them!

this is covered in the FAQ.
-------------------- Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

I have used regular whole brown rice from the bag....ground it up with a coffee burr grinder and had great results.
I have used rye flour with good results.
There is several other type of flours that will work.

Rye flour, or ground up rye berrys
