Check out these videos, especially if you were a DC raver in 1999. One of my good friends was, and she said that this expose by Fox 5 was "the DC ravers 9/11". She said that after this aired, everything changed. In fact, as you'll see, DC finally made MDMA illegal after this aired.

I was a raver in NJ/NY/PA area during that time period, never went to DC for a rave though. Giuliani was our 9/11. That faggot destroyed the NYC club/rave scene. Every good club went down during his reign. Twilo, The Tunnel, Limelight, Sound Factory and a bunch of other clubs.

Yeah, that was Nations. Buzz was shut down for a time after this aired. Everyone went over to Trax. Buzz eventually came back though, but the scene in DC was never the same after this.

Oh the humanity!
I was fortunate enough to experience the tail-end of the late 90's rave scene in Florida.. it hasn't been the same since.
It was unbelievable.. people really knew how to party.
E was the first drug I experimented with and really changed my perception for the better.

that video reminds me of the current day club/rave scene in dallas.
i remember one night there was this chick and her husband both in their 20s even had the chicks mom out there partying on e.
its seriously just like it was portrayed on that news report, candy gets passed around...well just like candy. seems like all the drugs are around with ease except lucy, but even that's been making a comeback lately so i hear.
the music the dj's spin at the clubs i went to was fucking phenomenal as well. plus the whole scene is full of love, i don't think i ever heard a single unkind word in my time partying down there.
fuck i miss texas.

yeah i just hope the law doesn't start cracking down on it anytime soon. the dallas community really needs a scene like that.
there is far too much hostility and anger everywhere else in the city.

I know I get fucked up at parties around dfw and I haven't been hated on once. It's pretty accepted around the clubs and shit but different places have different rules. Some clubs you can do what you want as long as it's not openly selling drugs. Some clubs don't care that your fucked up but "no in the face lightshows" "no binkies" "no vicks". Shit like that. I'm not "from the oldskool" but yeah the scene in Dallas is awesome. Especially with all these aliens and pokiballs goin around. Just picked up some new pokies

I gotta go with afterlife. I love that place. Killer time everytime I'm there. Lizard lounge gets good artists playing but they can be kinda uptight. But I swear if you like to roll and you wanna club in Dallas. Check out 'life. You won't be disapointed. don't buy there though. You may run across a few cool kids but there are undercovers around.

Solid post. I watched the first video and I gotta go out and I'm going to watch the other parts in a while. Interesting look back on the end of the legendary rave scene of the 90s that most of us missed out on.

i never went to afterlife while i lived there but i knew some kids in mansfield that went there pretty often, and my cousin and her friends in gp went there alot to. seems like most of the people at life are just there to get fuckerd up.
i've got a few friends that dj around dallas and have spun some shows at life since i moved so it could be different now.
i know what you mean about the lounge being uptight tho.

They are having a lingerie party this weekend but my wife said no 17 year old ass for me. Maybe because it's her birthday. Greedy bitch.

My wife is pretty cool about it . Although she knows that when I'm rollin' ... Sex is the last thing on my mind. Now I can very much enjoy the site of a beautiful woman when I'm thizzin but it doesn't really go to a sxual place. Just "OMG how beautiful". Now my chick on the other hand .... Sexy little girls beware.... Normally she's kinda conservative but in the lazers, after a couple pills, ... I have to restrain her. Lol. It's always a good time. I can only imagine "the good ol' days". She used to party at the bronco bowl way back when. She says the scene ain't been the same for awhile but as someone who never got to experience regularly scheduled massives I'd say the scene is still pretty dope. I understand that afterlife ain't no rave but i can't imagine having much more fun than I already do. Austin has massives a couple times a year. I'm headed to future fest down there in June. Outdoor event. Should be off the preverbial "hook".

Oh, I meant where in the country. DC sucks these days. there's clubs but they're not anything remotely like nations or buzz was back in the day. And so does baltimore for that matter, ever since BAR closed. I'm nowhere near DC anymore anyways. LOL

Starscape is coming up June 5th in Baltimore. Most rave heads left rave scene to jamband or psytrance scene, or they just stopped being a freak entirely.

I wasn't raving in the late 90's but Dallas in my opinion does have a okay rave scene. I cannot compare it to other states, but I'v been to Afterlife quite a bit. It has been raided a few times but the cops just get paid off and a few dealers there are splitting profit with the owner. I'v even done coke in one of the DJ's room with the owner once he closed it at 4am it was around 7am-epic night.
Lizzard Lounge & Insomnia are okay but its more of a club that rave, but I like Lounge the best though.

I was doing raves back in 88-89 and it has changed since then. When a person is my age and shows up, they all look at you like WTF are you doing here no matter how cool they seem to be. I hate that a person my age is not very welcome at these events because of age.
Hey sgtshroom, you going to shpongle on Sunday night? pm me for details.

It's that and most of them probably think I am some pedo-perv or something. I just like to do MDMA and dance to weird music. WTF? Isn't that what a lot of people there are doing? Ageism FTL. I actually prefer older people in a sexual sense. 30+ FTW.

undercover cops aren't usually posing as older people. there's plenty douchebags in the early 20s willing to bust us druggies.
around here theres usually quite a few older folks in the crowd, it's not weird at all and there doesnt seem to be any bias against them. they usually have the best stuff but alot of em are djs, promoters, or friends with one of the two

thats cause most older people, if they do shit, have been doing it a long time. with that comes experience of course, and the most important part. the network. finding that good source for the chronic good shit is kinda tough. so the longer you have to find that source the more likely you are to have found that source.

nope. i've seen middle aged folks around as well. i mean there isnt more than a few and i dont always see em out but it's not like anybody thinks its weird that older people show up.
the rave scene in oregon is more of a community, there's all different kinds of people that come out. it's more like a hippy scene than kandy kid scene.
